Panasonic AG-DVC30 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Logo
Posted on Feb 15, 2011

AG-DVC30 showing dead areas on flip-out screen and on video capture preview. The dead areas appear as horizontal blue screen bars, alternating in between bars of video while the camera is in VCR (playback). The screen is divided into a total of 9 bars, 5 with video appearing correctly, 4 with blue color, no video. The same bars appear in video capture windows on several computers.

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

Blue stripes in playback is an indication that you need to clean the heads. A Panasonic cleaning tape should work fine.

Auto lock not threaded

sounds like the threading mechanism isn't able to completely thread the tape. there may be something obstructing the travel of one of the threading arms that pulls the tape around the head.

Problem with DV output on ag-dvc30

It is possible that you have a faulty firewire port or cable that is sending electricity through one of the pins that is not designed to handle it. If one of the six pins at one end of a cable is bent, for example, it can electrocute whatever is at the other end.
It's been a while now - did you ever get this problem solved?

Converting vhs tapes to computer using camcorder

I think it's possible if you change a setting on your camcorder.  Turn your camera on to VCR and then hit the menu button.  Look at 4. AV In/Out Setup and make sure your DV Out is set to ON.  I think this will make it work.  If not, try changing your playback functions.  I think the problem either lies with the fact that the camera is using its RCA connections as outputs instead of inputs, or it's not sending the signal on to the VCR.
Hope this works for you -
