You may want to reset the router to factory settings. I helped another user that was having the same problem He fixed it by looking on the router configuration for 'client lease time', which was set to 1440 minutes. That is how long he could connect to the internet before he was disconnected. The 'client lease time' was under DHCP settings on his router configuration page.

It you need any further instruction about this issue. Please let me know. If so, I will need you Linksys model number.

If you found this tip helpful, please remember to leave postive feedback.

Thank You,

Brian

Hello,
There are many reasons why this might be happening.. You could try the following steps..
1) Disconnect the power from router for a minute and reconnect and check. 2) Try changing the wireless channel and Network name and try re-connecting. 3) Check if there is an firmware update for your product and update if any update is available. 4) If none of the above steps work you will need to reset(a small button or hole at the back or base) and re-config your router. ( For that you need the CD given with the router and you will need the ISP settings.)
Hope this helped

Power light off

remove all the wires connected to the router, then using a paper clip, press and keep holding the reset button available at the bottom of the router. there is a small pin point button which is called Reset button. keep pressing that button at leat for 1 minute. and after leaving the button wait for 10 seconds. and now connect the router with power cable, it would get power on. Otherwise, you have to go for the new one.

Very intermittent connection

Sounds more like a ISP problem than you router but try replacing the LAN cable between your modem and router then rebooting both devices (turn off wait 10 sec then on).

The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset

If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can set-up form scratch.

lets we reset first your router

1 Locate the reset hole on the router. The button will be on the back or side of the router.
Leave the router powered on.
  1. Use a paperclip (or similar) to press and hold in the reset button for 10 seconds.
  2. Remove the paperclip.
  3. Wait approximately one minute for the router to restart.

The settings for the router have now been reset back to their default.

Drops connection once or twice a day.

Unplug the the direct cable/dsl modem that the router is connected to and the wireless router for aprox. 1 minute. Plug in the modem, allow the modem to reset and power recycle. Once the modem has reset completely, connect the modem to the wireless router. This should re sync the devices and resolve your issue.

No lights on except power light.

The firmware has been messed up. DDWRT might be incompatible with your router. I would highly recommend to reload the factory firmware or the latest firmware from Netgear's website. Loading 3rd party firmware will void the warranty of your device.

Suddenly stop working

First thing to do if you lost the internet connection on the router is to do a power cycle, you need to turn off the modem and router for a minute then after that power the modem back oin and wait for about 30 a minute then power the router back and check now if internet is already working, if still no internet with the router you need to press and hold the reset button of the router for 20 seconds and run again the setup CD for it....

Connection drops with netgear router

You router needs to be replaced,, When it gets loaded, it resets itself as it isnt capable of carrying the load.. if you look at your ip when this happens you would have realised if your ip changes.. You can try resetting the router first but if that fails you will need to replace the router..

Internet wont connect

Try leaving both modem and router off for 10 minutes. Turn them both back on and leave them alone for 15 minutes, does it work now? If not, make not of all of your custom settings (if any), try resetting the router back to factory defaults, restore any custom settings and try again. I had the same problem with a linksys and it worked after factory reset.
