It should follow the usual practice:
White and white with black stripe- Left front.
Gray and gray with white stripe Right front.
Blue goes to the power antenna lead
Yellow is the data store and should connect to a point that is always hot from the Battery "+" and not interupted by the ignition switch It should have a 3 amp fuse.
Red is the main power and should be wired to a point that foes get interupted by ignition switch- such as existing radio It should be protected by 8 amp fuse.
Black is ground (-)
Orange is dimable illumination- wire to a dash light
The black wire with an 1/8 jack end is for portable devices to plug into.
Green and green with black stripe Left rear speaker
Violet and violet with black stripe is right rear speaker.

Alternately you can opt for the red and white RCA terminated leads to plug into another amp's input for rear speakers,

How do i change the startup volume on my Blaupunkt santa cruz mp34 car cd player/radio

If you are talking about the "auto volume" function. It should be in the same area as the vol, bass, treble, etc. It will only be a choice of on or off. hope this helps.

It sounds like you need to make sure the yellow wire is going to a source that still has 12 volts going to it when the key is off. The yellow wire controls the memory of the radio and has to have a constant voltage going to it in order to retain clock and station memory.

When I turn the knob to increase the volume, it goes up to three and drops back down to zero. It does this everytime I move the knob at a normal pace or faster. However, if I push the knob slightly in and...

It could be a safety protection meaning you could have a shorted speaker check all speakers and wiring, or it could be a defective volume control, try cleaning the volume with a contact cleaner spray you can find at any good electronic store (you normally have to open the radio to reach the POTENTIOMETER/VOLUME) to be able to spray inside it, than alternate (high/low) the control repetively to move/clean the volume's circuitry

Good luck!

I cannot turn the volume down. i even removed the plastic button and turn the post but the volume will not go0 down

If it doesn't get louder when you increase the volume, then possibility that is not the volume control or the potentiometer isn't in volume adjustment mode. Try pushing the knob before you rotate it, it might switch to a different function. Other cause could be that the switch is smoked. This is possible specially with analog type rotary and slider potentiometers. With digital static switches it also happens when it's just so used up and doesn't conduct electricity at the contact surface inside the wafer casing.

Is there a balance control on this radio or is that fixed???

Hello kayriecken,

You did not specify whether you have the old classic Becker or the new retro. I'm pretty sure that the knobs were "spring loaded" on my old '60's Becker (actually in a 1971 Mercedes 280S - later replaced with a Blaupunkt). On mine, you just pulled out lightly on the knob and it switched function to balance. One side, the volume controlled left to right balance, and the other side, tuning, controlled front to rear balance (fader). Try it and see if it works.

Hope this helps.
