Well, what mine does it is slowly deteriorate. It started off taking moving pictures, videos using as much of the monitor as I wanted to let it--it has gotten down now to just "searching" for pictures or snapshots - which isnt even what I use it for, and when it doesnt find any it closes becasue its all done for the day as far is its concerned--rip off thing from Walmart; what do I expect?

I can get my cam to work if I open the webcam itself, but on Yahoo Messenger, I only get a dark, blank screen. I've used it with MSN messenger and it worked fine. I'm going to try reinstalling Yahoo Messenger and see if that helps. If it doesn't, I'm at a loss.

Webcam not working

would start out by testing if the webcam works in any other software. For example if you got any software to go with the cam to set it up. If the webcam works in other software you follow these steps:
Open the messenger menu in Yahoo! Messenger and click My Webcam.
There you click on File and then Preferences.
That should open an options window. From there you go to Webcam or Webcam Broadcast.
There you'll find a button that says "Camera Source".
Make sure that the selected Webcam there is the one that you're using and click OK.

Otherwise if your computer doesn't recognize the webcam at all I would suggest to reinstall the drivers for the cam. You can either find them on a CD that you got with the cam, or if you didn't get one you can go to the manufacturers webpage and look for "Drivers", it's usually found under "Support" or a similar section of the page. Find the driver that matches your webcam and operating system (such as Windows 7 or XP etc.)
When you've downloaded them, install the file you got, follow the instructions and restart your computer and then try again. It should fix your problem.

My lenovo s100 cant view my webcam..or it not dtected

@joefry_dioce

If you're using Yahoo Messenger or Skype to access your webcam and it says No Camera Detected, the camera might be turned-off. Try the following:

1. Presss Fn+ESC (The Fn key is located at the left side of the space bar). that's the hotkey to turn your Webcam ON and OFF and try to check if your Webcam works.

2. Open Device Manager - press the Windows Key+R and type devmgmt.msc on the keyboard (the windows key looks like this ray_tosh_1.jpg ) and look for Imaging Devices

ray_tosh_22.jpg

3. If you see your webcam there, try to right click on it and Uninstall and restart your computer and check if your webcam works now.

If that still doesn't work and the webcam light is not turning ON, that's already a sign that your webcam is failing and needs to be replaced. If you're still under warranty, you can Call Lenovo Support at 1-877-453-6686 to have it serviced.

Good luck.

Control Center for KODAK Webcams. I have installed the software that came with my NEW KODAK S101 Webcam but when I open Control Center for KODAK Webcams all I get is a black screen.

I had the same problem today. I did some research and found that the software is trying to go to a website that no longer exists, or at least is not functioning right now.

I found out that the Kodak webcam which is the D101 is plug and play. I just plugged it in and I have already used Skype.

I got a couple of virus infected my PC a week ago (Essential Cleaner & MS Removal Tool). I had to download instructions on how to remove such virus on the internet. I managed to remove the first virus...

Even if you remove a virus, most of the cases, the damage cannot be repaired. Remove the sound driver and install it once again. If that doesn't work, you should consider reinstalling the OS.

I recently bought a webcam from 'computer gear' and its telling me i need the installation CD to download the software. i the webcam wont work without it, however IS working, because once plugged...

if you bought a webcam..there must be a small CD for the webcam driver.
if there is a hardware ..it needs driver to perform its work.
if you dont have webcam drivers CD ask the vendor.

Webcam did not work for yahoo messenger chat say webcam is not connected

In addition to the webcam set up you will need to check the support software -
1) Internet Explorer - IE is coded with Yahoo Messenger and responsible for most functions - Signing in, games, etc. You do not need to make it your default browser but keep it up to date and clean.
2) Microsoft DirectX . This comes pre-loaded on most Windows computers but has to be updated
To start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click 'Start', click 'Run', type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK
Run through the tabs checking the 'notes' windows for information
The version will be shown on the 'Systems' tab
YAHOO MESSENGER WEBCAM SET UP
Plug in your webcam and visit this site - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
Do not proceed if the camera fails to work here, but concentrate on your webcam software / drivers
http://www.testmycam.com/
Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to Yahoo Messenger 10.
COMPATIBILITY WITH YAHOO MESSENGER
You MUST use Internet Explorer to visit this page, with your webcam plugged in, to check compatibility and automatically download the latest webcam control. Make sure your webcam broadcasts on this page before moving on

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the Yahoo software may have difficulty in locating it. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, if yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Of all the chat programs, Yahoo is the most painful software to set up but if you follow these instructions you should be ok.
INTERNET CONNECTION
Webcam connected
Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK
TESTING
> Messenger > My webcam - the warning panel will launch, click 'OK' and your webcam will start.
SET WEBCAM DEFAULT
With webcam still running > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam Broadcast > Camera Source - set your webcam as default using dropbox. > Camera Settings - adjust settings to suit. > Apply > OK
Take a note of any additional software, if you have multiple choice for Camera Source, you may wish to uninstall any redundant webcam software later to prevent conflicts
AUDIO
Open Video and Voice - run through your default equipment and make a test call - click OK

When i installed yahoo messenger 10 and when i open chat box with any of my friend my cam bottom is not active even voice call not active

hi try this one.
Once you have the webcam installed on your computer you have to configure it to whatever chat program you wish to use.

YAHOO MESSENGER WEBCAM

Plug in your webcam and visit this site - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
Do not proceed if the camera fails to work here, but concentrate on your webcam software / drivers

Take a note of any additional software, if you have multiple choice for Camera Source, you may wish to uninstall any redundant webcam software later to prevent conflicts

AUDIO
Open Video and Voice - run through your default equipment and make a test call - click OK

PERMISSION OPTIONS
> Messenger > Preferences > Webcam - make your default equipment selections and who you will allow to view you > Apply > OK

IN USE
When you are both on line and wish to show your webcam > Actions > 'Invite to view my webcam'.
Messenger 10:- > Actions > More Actions > invite to view my webcam. This will launch an invitation on your contacts screen when they 'Accept' your webcam broadcast will start- There can be considerable time lag ( +1 minute) before they see you, so don't be too impatient ( You can check the status on the bottom left of your webcam panel. You can 'drag and drop' the frame to a convenient location by grabbing the top border.

Your contacts may need to configure their connection the same as INTERNET CONNECTION above (Ignoring webcam connected) if they get a "webcam not connected" message

Sometimes you may have to broadcast the 'small image' option from the 'Webcam' menu on the top of your image frames. This happens when one of you is down on resources -its like sending a large photo by email - its quicker if you cut the size down
you can zoom up to 200% from the same menu when the webcam picture comes through

Use the 'Always on top' option from the 'webcam' menu - or your image will disappear under the message window when you type a message

In addition to the webcam suppliers software most webcams need support software - this point was probably made when you ran the Dynex CD. I have a Logitech cam and need Microsoft DirectX 10
