Just bought the acer g5900.Memory DDR3 what i want to know is whats the MHZ 1066 or more.

MHZ is the speed of the RAM, this is very important to know because all RAM in a computer MUST be the same speed. In example that a 800 MHZ RAM cannot work together with a 1066 MHZ RAM, otherwise the computer will not boot.

Processor update..

The problem with Store bought PCs is that there is no way to tell how fast a proccessor you can safely put into one before it becomes overclocking, but in theory your exact motherboard should support an AMD Athlon X2 5800+ 1000 Mhz FSB. Now if your willing to take a risk, you could buy a 6400+ but be warned, the computer may not recognize it, or it may just underclock the proccessor, if the processor supports 800 Mhz FSB. I said the 1000 Mhz FSB because it can underclock to that speed, and also because they no longer offer 800 Mhz flavors at the sites i order from. Hope that helps.

How to change add RAM to Acer Aspire

first check with www.acer.com to see that expansion is possible.

all computers like their memory upgrades in sets, instead of singles(like changing both front tires on your car or truck)..so compatibility among the two is more vital than matching to existing ram cards.

RAM not running at full speed

Go to page 33 in your manual, see DRAM Clock/Drive Control & press enter. You can tweak your memory to run faster however your manual suggest not too. Hate to see you burn it up. As you will see everything is set to Auto:
Max Memclock (Mhz) [Auto]
1T/2T Memory Timing [Auto]
CAS# latency (Tcl) [Auto]
When DDR Timing Setting by is set to Manual, use this item to set the DRAM frequency. Would be nice to have a side panel fan blowing on your memory.
