I have a Nikon Coolpix S4. I have been using this for some quite some years. Last I used was in manali an year back. Now when I took up for another shoot, I can see only playback and no images is seen while i try to shoot as though the lens is closed!

Please charge the battery and have the camera switched on overnight. Also keep the camera in a warm condition, if possible use a hair dryer at a distance to warm up with the battery removed and the compartment blown into with hot air.-- please take care not to overheat.
The possibility that a set might have developed some connection error or electrolytic leak within the electronics section.
