I have a Brother DCP-135C. After I removed a paper jam completely, the printer continues to malfunction - when restarted it makes an unhealthy sounding rapid stuttering sound, as if a motor were jammed in someway, and the LCD display reads "Please wait". This stops after about 10 seconds, and I get the LCD message "Init Unable AF". I'm then referred to the Routine maintenance chapter of the users guide. However this sheds little light on the problem.
Any ideas? All suggestions would be very greatly appreciated.
I just had the same problem, and it turns out there was still a little bit of paper under the print head. If you unplug the printer, and move the head to the side, you might find the same.

Sometimes these small machines have a lock to hold the scanner in place for shipping. Check to see if you have one and be sure it is the unlocked position. If you have one it is usually on the left side or under the scanner portion where the paper comes out.
