Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I recently purchased a Hawking HSB2 Signal Booster. Two years ago, my son installed a Toshiba Cable modem(PCX2200)and a Belkin Wireless Router(model#F5D7230-4)for Camcast High Speed Internet. The Router was installed to get a High Speed connection to a Windows XP down stairs. Eventually the XP signal got worse and will not work. I'm attempting to boost the signal from the Hawking HSB2 to the XP downstairs. Have also installed a Hawkins internet adapter on the XP. HOW DO I CONNECT THE HSB2 HAWKING BOOSTER upstairs?

Booster will only work along with access points in your case the belkin wireless router - you have to connect the device to the router not to the windows xp pc

if you know how to configure and the device are compatiable to each other and allows bridging or can configure as your access point client then you need not wanna to get it connected via wire or T568b standard ethernet cable otherwise you have to connect with this cable will enchance the wireless activity

Wireless signals can go down its strength by any magnetic activity, oscillations such as microwave, powerful steel/metal frames and check your anteena position keep in different direction and check your pc wifi signal strength.

Interlink between your router and booster with utp cables gives you steady flow of data and full band strength.

Aviod using two company devices change the router to Hawking
Thanks Hothawk

Is there a WIFI Signal Booster out there for a Westell A90-750015-07 Router/Modem?

you don't need a signal booster. Instead what you need is a WIFI signal repeater. This device basically captures your router's signal and repeat it to other devices. Basically place is somewhere between the router and your computer.

There are many out there but here's a cheap one on ebay

I have cable modem can i hook up my belkin wireless router model #f5d8236-4 v3 to it ...my son wants to play his x-box 360 while im on the computer...please help

theres a number of solutions

you son my have a wireless reciever on his xbox(this is either built in or can be purchased) this will allow him to access the router around the house wirelessly allowing you to keep your cable plugged in to your desktop

protip:,make sure that the router channel number is set to 11 or the xbox wont read the wifi signal

you can get an extra long cable to reach between the router and the xbox (standard cat6 cable) id buy that online as its cheaper than in the stores.this will plug into one of the ports at the back allowing him to play while you surf the net

Hi I have recently purchased the belkin wireless surf router and I am not sure if it is working correctly or not, as the light on the front of the router is currently blinking red.. and red doesnt really...

hi

IS THE LIGHT IS BLINK RED MEANS YOU DONT HAVE A PHYSICAL CONNECTIVITY.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR MANUAL AND YOUR CABLE CONECTIONS.

STEP1

TURN OFF ROTER AND MODEM
STEP2

CONNECT MODEM CABLE TO WAP PORT ON ROUTER AND LAN CABLE TO PC OR LAPTOP

STEP3

NOW TURN ON FIRST MODEM AND AFTER A 5 MINUTS TURN ON ROUTER, YOU WILL SEE LIGHT IS TURNING ORANGE AND AFTER THAT GREEN

READY NOW JUST ENJOY YOUR ROUTER.

ADVISE:

DONT INSTALL THE CD SOFTWARE DO ALL MANUALLY.

FOR GO IN TO YOUR ROUTER SETTINGS PLEASE LOG IN IN THE INTERFACE USING 192.168.2.1 OR JUST WRITE HTTP:// ROUTER

I've been having trouble loading some pages pretty much since we've had this router. Images seem to be slow to load on most pages, I have to refresh the page several times to get youtube to play, and...

After carefully considering the problem, if you are saying that your computer loads the pages perfectly (fast and clear) when it is set up directly to the modem, then it has to be the Wireless component of either the Modem itself or your Computer.

It can also be interference with other wireless gadgets within the home.

If it is a Laptop you are using, you may wish to purchase a Belkin wireless booster to boost the signal.

If it is a PC Desktop you are using and there is no reason that it can't be connected via an ethernet cable, then I would suggest connecting it directly.

Ethernet cable is shielded cable which is designed to omit interference.

Whilst wireless is great, it is not always the answer (especially if there are other devices which are conflicting with the signal).

I hope this information is useful. Regards,

Cable light off

Your cable signal is low.If you have any splitters remove them.there is only one single cable that should go to the modem out to the box on the house then inside the box the cable for the modem should be on a 2 way splitter, the input is from the cable service, one output goes directly to the modem and the other output usaully goes to another splitter that runs the rest of the TVs in the house.basically the modem needs "priority" or first dibs on the bandwidth coming to the house.

Will not locate drive

this modem is supported by Win98, the driver can be found below, download and unzip if neccassry, then when windows is looking for the driver foece it to browse wherever you have saved it to as the pc will probably be looking in the wrong place. http://www.toshiba.com/taisnpd/support/downloads.html
