Hi map9966

I also have this machine and am experiencing the same
problem
initially the screen was blank and I got a few seeps at startup
when took out the components and put them back in (memery, graphics card) and listened to the hard drive to make sure irt was running and it was
after some time i did manage to get the bios screen up
and after another rebook it started normally and I was abel to reboot several times
the next day back to square one - (machine is cold) just the beeps and no video and the fan is going very slow etc.
could it be a boot sector virus or a faulty fan
I also noticed that 2 of the copper fins on the video card are half missing - I image this is by design?

Hi wicklow123,
Sorry I haven't gotton back to you sooner. Its summmer here & I ride cross country.
I'm betting its the fan.
The fan that is running very slow. If that fan is for the CPU than replace it as soon as possible. A CPU fan should be running no less than 2000 rpm. Average speed is between 2000-3200 rpm.
Please define the beeps you are hearing. (Ex. 3 short & 1long, six short & repeating ect.) You'll need to know the name of you're bios. (Ex; Award, AMI, ect.) Go to this link & find you're bios. You should be able to find what the beeps are telling you is wrong & what to check. (There is a list of Bios on the left of the site.)

The video card. If its all copper fins I wouldn't worry. Be more concerned about the bios beeps & fan. It wouldn't hurt to add a side case fan which will aid in bringing in fresh air to both the video card & CPU.

Good Luck!
