The return button will not work. The line down buttong will not work. The line up button does work.

Sounds like a keyboard problem. Try unplugging and replugging the flat connectors to the keyboard. If this dosen't help contact Geo. Beyers Co. for a rebuilt KB @800-392-8085.

IBM Selectric Typing carriage doesn't stop moving. Stuck key?

It sounds like a possible tab knockoff problem. This could be a small spring loose or broken in the escapement portion of the machine or the final knockoff in the tab unit out of alignment. You can try setting a tab before the end of the carriage by holding the carrier in place and using your other hand to press Tab Set, but the alignment may be just far enough off to keep you from actually setting the tab. One other thing that sometimes will cause the problem is the pitch setting lever is between the two pitches. Make sure your pitch setting lever is seated in its home position.

Typewriter won't move up when I press the RETURN key

some machines have a selector near the platen, or a button on the left platen knob, that will cause the platen to not index (roll up) when you hit return. otherwise, you have a broken typewriter, and should take it to a repair shop

Carriage return problem

The tab button may be stuck or the carriage release lever is stuck or a broken escapement.
