Message that game will not play at current video setting

Game will not play; setting will not change from 480i; TV is standard, connected through composit cables. Game will play on 22" Samsung HD computer monitor connected through HDMI/DVI cables, but of course no audio. How can I make game play on standard def TV?

Hello.
You just need to restore the defaults for the video. Here is how to do this.

1. Reset the Video Output Settings. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings. Once you turn it back on, it should work fine.
I hope this helps!! Good luck!!

The setup reads on a 480i when it should be in 1080i. How do I get the system from the 480 to 1080?

our TV has a 1080p display screen and it does not change. What changes is your input signal. When you see a little message on screen saying "480i" (or anything else), it's telling you the resolution of whatever you have connected to the TV. In this case, it's most likely a standard-def TV channel.

If you *are* using a cable or satellite receiver, you need to get into its menu and set its output resolution to 1080i (which is the maximum for TV channels). Also, it needs to be an HD receiver, if it isn't already.

You only get true 1080p from a Blu-ray player or from certain game consoles.

From the Wii Channels menu, click the "Wii" button on the lower left of the screen. From there choose: Wii Settings > Screen > TV Resolution. In this menu, click on the "EDTV or HDTV (480p)" option and then click "confirm".

I bought my ps3 from USA and got some game disc from Australia (region 4) it doesn't work,a message pops up when i press start (cannot play on current video settings, but i was told that ps3 games are...

PS3 games are region locked to the Blu-Ray standards where the game was bought. I doubt that Sony will change this, because they are one of the major backers behind the region standards. Your best bet to play the game is to softmod your PS3 (risky) or to hardmod it with a modchip (vaguely illegal, warranty voiding, ect.)

How to set up to using hdmi

#1 your tv would need to be hdmi compatable (have the appropriate plug on the back where all the inputs are located). For example I have a 60" Lcd HDTV and an xbox360 I attached the standard a/v (audio/video) red, white, yellow wires to tv and turned on the game console went into system settings and turned on the hd setting to 1080i for hi def resolution. Another alternative would be to connect console to your dvd player (most new dvd players will up convert signal from 480i or 720i to 1080i hd) and attach your hdmi cable between the dvd player and the tv to support the hd interface. Something I highly recommend is the jvc th c50 home theater surround sound when I play call of duty it has enough to knock stuff of our bookshelves and ******** the neighbors. Happy gaming

Some Virtual Console games don't work!

When using component video cables and a HDTV: Go into the Wii's system settings, under Screen, change TV Resolution to HDTV (480p) instead of Standard TV (480i) and change to Widescreen (16:9) under Widescreen Settings.

This worked for me, good luck!

Some gmes won't play.

Ok. Do you have a NTSC system?

Some PAL games will only run on standard and some will only run in HD and some will run on both if the PS3 is NTSC. The PAL games output at (576i/p) while the NTSC outputs at (480i/p). So honestly, I think that is your problem. You have a NTSC system and PAL games. If you do not have a HDTV then you will need to exchange those games for the NTSC version. Sorry for the bad news. It's not Sony's fault, it's how the game developers coded the games.
I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Some games won't run on my PS3 40mb

Hello.
All games should run regardless of the settings. Are they PS3 games or games from the PS1 or PS2? That could also make a huge difference. The 40GB PS3 is not fully backwards compatible. Also, if they are PS3 games, try the reset default video settings. That might even work. Here is how to do that.

Analog out of range

Are you playing the game from a computer or a video game system? 800 x 600 res is fine if it's a PC. If you have a video game system, then you have to go into the video game system's menu, ans select resolution of 480i - only on ps3 or xbox, however.
