You entered a value or variable that is the wrong data type.

You may have supplied a complex number where a real number was required, or a list when a matrix was required, for example.

If you still have problems with this, could you reply to this post specifying exactly what you're doing when you get this error?

I get ERR: DATA TYPE

Error Data Type mean that you entered a value or variable that is the wrong data type:
• For a function (including implied multiplication)
or an instruction, you entered an argument that
is an invalid data type, such as a complex
number where a real number is required. See
Appendix A and the appropriate chapter.
• In an editor, you entered a type that is not
allowed, such as a matrix entered as an element
in the stat list editor. See the appropriate
chapter.
• You attempted to store an incorrect data type,
such as a matrix, to a list.

I was using a program that I entered into the program area of my TI-84. It worked perfectly and then I went to use it again, now I get this error message that says :ERR:DATA TYPE. What does this mean?

If it worked perfectly before then it should continue doing so. However when you used it the second time something might have changed in the variable you are feeding it. Foe example if the program needs a parameter A that is supposed to be integer (whole number) but now A stores a decimal value then A is of the wrong data type and the program complains.
I think you should clear all variables and all lists and restart the program. It may be safer to archive the program, then reset the RAM of the calculator. After that, unarchive it and run it.

I entered and calculated data in L1 now when I try to graph the data i get an err: invalid dim Here are the steps that I took: 2nd Stats Plots enter Plot1 On Type: Box Plot XList: L1 Freq:...

If you have a frequency list it must be entered in a statistical list, L2, L3, ...or L6.
If the frequency of all elements is 1 you do not need to enter the frequency in a list. When you go to draw the box plot, the frequency will be set to 1.

ERR

Solution is very simple - just press DISP/MENU and STOP simultaneously for 2-3 seconds. There will start the FOR blinking on the screen of recorder (ERR will disappear) and the red "eye" on the switchboard. Wait for few minutes and your recorder is back to work :)

Warnning: This means FULL restart and you will lose ALL your recorded data! But I did not find any other solutions...

When graph get err dim how do you fix

ERR: DIM means your dimension (Xmin,Xmax that kind of stuff) can not show all of your data. You need to change your X,Y min and max so it fits. this usually happends only when you try to display plots of any sort. It is very annoying trying to get the right dimension....
