My model is a bit different but the problem is absolutely the same. makes a very loud noise and emits a burnt rubber odor. Belt replacement did nothing.

Turned on vacuum one day and it made a really loud noise like the belt had broken. So we replaced the belt correctly, and turned it on and the noise is still there it is also rattling violently. HELP PLEASE…. not exact same model but close enough
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It could be a couple of problems, it could be a bad brushroll, it could be a broken fan, the belt braking would not create a loud noise – it would be the brushroll or the broken fan or possibly a broken brushroll housing. Please… have it check out by your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or contact the Hoover website or cust serv @ the Hoover factory listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hi, I just replaced my belt for my Hoover Upright Futura with replacement belt 38528040. Now it is making a very loud noise with a lot of vibration. What would be the cause? Could it be the new belt? It...

It is not likely to be a belt problem. I would remove the belt and brush assembly, turn the vacuum on, and see if it is still loud. If it is, the motor fan is broken and will need replacement. If it sounds normal, the problem is in the brush assembly. Examine the ends of the brush for damage or play in the bearings. The brush may need replacement ( part # 48414081 )

I need to change my sweeper belt on my Dyson 14 Animal

When turned on and set to sweep the sweeper makes a loud noise like it has something stuck in it but the brush is turning abut not does not have a lot of sucking power. It started the other day when a blanket with tassels got caught and wund up in the brush and sucked up in the sweeper a bit. Tried to pull out while running and came out but made the loud noise. If I take off the brush then it does not make the noise when on. I think it might be the belt grooves are worn and slipping when the sweeper is in the sweeping on mode. Sorry, do not know the technical sweeper terms.

There is a loud noise coming from the bottom of the vacuum only when I have it on the carpet setting. It doesn't have this problem on the floor setting. What could possibly be wrong and is it easily...

Check for a broken belt or something caught around the brush. To check if the belt is broken, try turning the brush by hand. If it turns freely, then the belt is broken and needs replaced. It also may be loose. If that's the case, it won't turn easily, but still needs to be replaced.

Loud noise and appears the belt is slipping

Generally you will find soil and string of some sort wrapped around the drive spool. Make sure you unplug it before starting and it might be quite hot.

A loud noise happens when I try to vacuum carpets. The hose works but that is it. Please help, I just recieved vacuum for mother's Day.

THE BELT MAY BE LOOSE. UNPLUG THE VAC AND USE A PHILIPS SCREW DRIVER TO REMOVE THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VACUUM WHERE THE BELT IT LOCATED. CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE BELT IS ON TRACK AND NOT BROKEN OR SNAPPED. THIS CAN CUSE A LOUD NOISE TO BE PRODUCED FROM ANY VACUMM CLEANER. HOPE THIS HELPS........

Belt wont turn makes a loud noise when put on carpet setting

If this is a Dyson with a protected belt that can't be replaced then it will have to be sent out to Dyson or get a Dyson servicepersonnel to check it over - protected belt motors are difficult to fix by yourself. If its clicking all the time, then it means the belt has to be replaced. In the mean time check that there are no obstructions on the beater bar and behind it and also check that the brush stop roller at the top of the hood is in the right position. It should move automatically when the handle is swung down in normal operation.

Really loud noise.

The belt inside my Hoover broke and so we replaced it. But when we did, it now makes an extremely loud noise when turned on. We think it’s the roller to the vacuum because it doesn't make a noise when the roller is not in there. The roller sounds like its hitting something. However, we have pushed and pulled and done everything and all seems to be right. Everything is clicked in and the belt is on correctly and we've followed the manual. How can I fix this problem?
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that it is a bad brushroll and could need new bearings or a complete new brushroll depending on if id is metal word or plastic. Some brushrolls are rebuildable and some are not, you can check your owner’s manual to see if it is or is not; or it could be the start of a broken fan blade or bearing in the motor section. But that is the only thing that I can think of that might be wrong. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or you can also contact the Hoover website or cust serv phone # listed below. I replaced the belt on my Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum and the brush roller rubs and makes a very loud noise when turned on. I have gone exactly by the manual instructions and made sure the belt and end caps were on correctly, but the bristles still rub the back and it makes a very loud noise. Without the brush roller in the vacuum, it sounds and runs normal. What could the problem be?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The Royal Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum has just bushings in the ends of the brushroll and not bearings and once the bushings are bad I suggest that you replace the brushroll in the vacuum and put a new belt on the vacuum as well. There is no way to repair the bushing s in order to it to work properly. The suggested belt change is every 4 to 6 months and to store the extra belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator to keep them fresh. Suggest looking at a local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
