Sharp ZR-5800 with Megahertz XJ1144 modem

You are right David.  I should have mentioned that.  I have one the
those deluxe cases with an external battery.  I always use that and
wasn't thinking about it. I read somewhere that the xj1144 uses 1500ah
which would suck two AA dry in a very short time.  I suppose that can be
called a "flaw".

I use the CC4144 (pig tail, and cellular ready, but essentially the same
modem,) and it will suck your batteries dry in 150 seconds.  I only use
it when plugged in to an external power supply, either AC or DC.  But
don't run it off a pair of 1.5v AA's.

It will work straight out of the box. It is the configuration I use
myself.

Maybe he had a Z-5000... which can'tprovide enough power to the XJ1144
when
using internal batteries... But the 5800 definitely does! It can use all
the functionalities of the XF1144 when battery powered (i.e. E-mail,
FAX, terminal...). No problem with a 5800. But BIG problem with 5000.

Sorry!  I sent two messages to you and somehow they both got chopped
off (at least when I read them on the news group)  So here I will
repeat.  First, I have a ZR-5800 and use the Megahertz XJ1144 with the
new Zem@il program from Rupp.  It works flawlessly.  Second, about a
year ago I transferred from a Casio SF5500BX to the Zaurus.  I used
pclink to convert the casio address files into a csv (comma delimited
file).  Then I used Rupplynx 3.0 to convert the csv file into a Zaurus
Contacts file and download it to the Zaurus.  I hope this gets through.
