Question about Brother HL 5250DN Laser Printer
The Printer is about 10 months old now and it seems to jam almost every
time that a print job is sent. The duplex function is on and it seems
to print the first side, but constantly jams while printing the second
side ( when I clear the jams only one side has been printed). I am
using standard 20lb paper and have cleaned the unit multiple times with
compress air and wiped down other parts according to the brother
maintenance. I'm not exactly sure what else to do, any help would be
You problem is actually in the pick-up roller and separation pad areas. the paper is delaying and not making it through to the next check point in the machine fast enough.
Take it by your closest Brother Service Outlet. They're in the phonebook under "Computer Service & Repair". It's a cheap fix but requires parts.
Use good paper. Paying a little more for paper will save you a lot over time in repairs and premature toner and drum failures. Brother printers are really finicky about paper quality. Recommend "HP Office" brand paper as a minimum. It's a known good paper for general everyday printing and won't break the bank.

Tips for a great answer:
Causes of jams
NOTE If you are experiencing jams in the duplex paper path, make sure that the duplex-tray
lever is set to the correct media size for your country/region. Open the duplex-paper-path door
and look at the embossed arrow on the lever. Make sure that it points to the media size for your
country/region. If the size needs to be changed, push the lever all the way in for duplex printing
on letter- and legal-size media, or pull it all the way out for duplex printing on A4-size media.
Occasionally, paper or other print media can become jammed during a print job. Some causes include
the following events:
? The print media that is being used does not meet HP specifications.
? The media is damaged or has objects attached to it, such as staples or paper clips.
? The environment in which the print media was stored is too humid or too dry.
? The input trays are loaded incorrectly or overfilled, or the media guides are not set correctly.
? Too many sheets have accumulated in an output area, or sheets are blocking an output area.
? Media is added to or removed from an input tray during a print job or an input tray is removed from
the all-in-one during a print job.
? The cartridge door is opened during a print job.
