Can i replace windows 7 on my laptop with my copy of windows xp professional, if so what do i do

You can. Either install it fully as a new install or create a dual boot of both XP and 7. Installing over it is easy, just use the install CD for XP and fullow the full install instructions.
There are instructions all over the web including here:http://lifehacker.com/5126781/how-to-dual-boot-windows-7-with-xp-or-vista

My 1120 laser shot canon printer cann't install on my laptop win7 64 bit. iwant solution please. thanks for any help

You are out of luck on this one. There is no Win 7 driver for this model. There may be a generic 32bit driver but certainly nothing 64 bit.

If you are really stuck , you could always dual boot with XP and Win 7 on the same machine. Its messy but create your doc in win 7, reboot into Xp and import the doc into Xp and print it. Personally i would but a newer printer.

Srri cant be of more help.

In installing both windows xp and windows 7,how can i perform dual boot? i only have cd installer, can i perform the dual boot

When you install the first operating system, there's an option there to create partitions. Make sure to create two partitions each with sizes enough to meet the requirements of the operating system you would install on it. Then proceed with installing the first operating system on the first partition. After you install that, you can boot with the second operating system cd to install it on the second partition.

Dual boot

Hi abc_19 ,

Before I answer your question , let me tell you that you need to back up your data. Also, make sure that your system hardware supports Vista.

You also need to have genuine windows XP and windows Vista disks handy with you.

1. Partition your hard drive. In Windows XP, using the $50 PartitionMagic or (according to one of our readers) the free GParted Live CD, create a new "primary" partition to install Vista on. Make it at least 20 gigabytes in size.
2. Install Vista on the new partition. Pop in the Vista CD and point it to your newly-created partition as the installation destination. Installation will restart your machine at various points.
3. Choose your operating system on boot. Once Vista is installed on your newly-created partition, on boot up, you'll get a choice to start XP or Vista. The default is Vista. However, this can be changed using Vista's boot manager.
When you're up and running with Windows Vista, be sure to check our our Vista upgrade power tips.
The original article appears below for posterity, and it's still got relevant screenshots and other info for those of you looking to dual-boot XP and Vista.

Lexmark X1185 won't scan.

I have the same issues with a Lexmark printer, Lexmark printers are not very user friendly with Vista. What I did is create a dual boot with XP and installed the software for the printer there. If interested in that follow these instructions or contact lexmark support.
