Question about GE Profile Harmony DPGT750EC Electric Dryer

1 Answer

No air coming from back of dryer

Our GE Harmony dryer does not dry clothes. We took off the vent pipe and there is no air coming out the back. I am not sure if it might be the blower and also how to get into the dryer. I just KNOW the GE people will charge us an arm and leg to come out and fix it. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheryl

Your problem will be solved if you dismantle the front end of the dryer and first making sure you can do this sort of repair is the main concern.Yes it is a blower problem that may just be a small article of clothing that has made its way through the lint screen opening and lodged itself onto the blower housing. On a GE I believe you have to slide the top forward (this is the top section and to describe it better ,it is where you would stand if you were to climb up on the dryer)remove the cover .There is now access to the screws that hold the front (door assembly/cover)on. Remove any screw that you see that is holding the front end /door on so you can remove the front.PLEASE NOTE:Bottom line is this front panel needs to be removed so you can then pull the blower wheel housing open and see what has happened. You may find that the top cover doesn't have to be removed so observe the front of your dryer and picture the whole front off so you now work on the problem which is on the bottom base and if you follow the path from your lint screen it will take you to the blower which is always in the front of your dryer. My dryer is not drying i noticed there was no air coming out the vent out side

disconnect the exhaust vent from the back of the dryer and see if you have any air coming out of the back of the dryer if you do you will most likely have to replace the exhaust vent line that goes from the back of your dryer to your outside vent. Blockages of lint build up over time and should be cleaned at least once every 6 months. If you find that you have no air coming out of the back of the dryer when you remove the vent line message me back for further diagnosis. I await your reply
Thank you

I have a ge harmony profile dryer and when its cold usually below 40 the screen will not come on the light inside the dryer when i open the door will come on but the touch will not come on until the room...

I have this same problem and have found that if I disconnect the vent to prevent cold air from coming in, the problem goes away, but it takes about 2 hours to warm up. In addition, I tried putting a hair drying pushing air back through the dryer's vent intake into the dryer itself, and this took an hour.

Some reading indicates it might be a faulty thermal fuse, but it isn't clear.

Did you every find a solution to your problem?

My dryer drum is rotating and the heater is working, but condensation is building up in the drum instead of dispersing. No matter how long the cycle, the clothes don't dry. I've checked the filter, vent...

Can you feel air blowing out the vent on the dryer itself? The reason I ask is if you dont feel any air blowing out your blower fan isnt working and wouldn't matter if vent was clear if you dont have any air movement.

Heat is on clothes are not drying

The air flow through the exhaust is blocked/clogged.

This usually happens at the vent where it exits the house, but can also be where the dryer connects to the vent in the floor/wall, and also occurs throughout the entire pipe length.

Make sure the inlet, pipe, and outlet are cleared. make sure the lint filter and surrounding area is clear.

You should hjave a good strong air flow comming out of the vent on the exterior.

(Improper airflow prevents the moisture from exiting the dryer.)

Dryer heats sometime but clothes do not dry well....vent pipes seem to be clear of lint up to dryer...blower doesn't come on...no air blowing out of dryer...

thats the reason your clothes aren't dry.Have to have air moving through tub. Check fan motor probably a thermal overheat fuse that has blown or if motor is turning, look at the fan and see if it has a set screw or retaining ring that holds it on the shaft or both fan may not be turning with the shaft. More than likely though the blower motor overheated or just plain worn out.

Ge profile harmony dryer

You most likely have a clogged venting system going to the oustside.. Try this pull the dryer away from the wall remove the flex venting pipe.
Run a load now yes i know the heat and moisture will come in the house but it is just one load(open a window) if it works ok then you will need to get someone out to clean your vent and your money back from the repairman who came out .....any technician worth anything should have told you this.....98% of long dry time calls are a plugged venting..just and FYI...Hope this fix ya if so plz rate
