Windows XP logo testing

HELP! I am trying to load an external DVD player on my windows XP PC, and the logo testing will not let me load the software. The dvd player IS designed for XP. The "ignore logo test and install anyway" option is selected in the hardware setup menu. I have tried everything suggested by the windows website to fix this problem. This is a problem with other software and drivers I have tried installing on this computer. This has also been an issue since I had to FDisk and reinstall windows. Anyone have any ideas????

Sounds as if you have a policy to deny unsigned drivers to your system. Is this HOME or PROFESSIONAL?

What is the model of the external DVD player?

How to format windows xp and install windows 7

Hi,
You need the original installations DVD's.
On windows xp,you can't upgrade to windows 7 so you have to run a clean installation. This is done by inserting the installation DVD's to run set up and following instructions.
To maintain the settings that you have in windows xp,you may need an external hard disk first to migrate files off your pc.This is done using Windows 7 Easy transfer from which you will later re-install your files and softwares. This software is available in windows 7 installations DVD's under support.
Visit this sites to learn more on the installations.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

Media player wont play movies but will down load muisc and write information to cd

Media player requires special Codecs and plugins in order to watch movies! Most cases they are not free, but here is the site which you can acquire them.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx

Now, on the other hand you can buy software of dvd suits that will play DVDs

Also, there are various free players out there you can download and use to watch movies for free.

When booting up my computer it goes to the error page prior to loading windows and asks what mode...regardless of choice it goes to windows logo screen and sits there and wont load...

1. check to see if your pc is compatible with the software. You didn't specify if you are reloading or installing for the first time.
2.You didn't give hard drive capacity or any information about the Pc you are loading Windows on.
You may not have enough capacity on the hard drive to load the full XP
Wndows xp requires about 2 GB of hard drive space then at least 10 GB of space for swap files and operation files.

After rcovery keeps trying to reboot

Is it a recovery (from a recovery partition) you did or you installed from DVD or CD?

If from latter--cd or dvd...then reinstall or have the cd burned at a lower speed.

I cannot watch dvds on my windows xp only cds

I'd be sure it does accept DVD. The face plate on the CD/DVD drive typically have the logos printed or stamped on it of the supported formats. Look for the DVD logo. Following link shows example internal desktop drive. Logo in center of drawer is for DVD.

Also try other DVDs to be sure you didn't have a bad one.

How can i tell if my cd dvd drive is stuffed or not programed properlly. I have down loaded update still not wokin Please help

Go to Control Panel....Devise Manager .....find you CD/DVD player on the list...click on it ......there should be a option to replace the DRIVER for this device. If there is a yellow exclaimation point next to your CD/DVD player it is probably bad IF you have installed and reinstalled the programing several times and it still does work. On a rare ocassion Windows Update can fowl a player. Very LAST thing to try is roll back the latest Update. You might also try doing a System Restore to a point before the CD/DVD player went out.

Having trouble with HP ..Windows XP

I suggest that :
  1. Press F8, choose command line (if you know) and backup any file that you need (copy to an external drive, pen drive, cd or other medium). Please skip this step if you allready have updated backups.
  2. you restore the windows XP with the original cd / dvd, and choose format disk.
  3. remove the cd / dvd when asked for reboot
  4. Restore your data files and update the operation system with Microsoft update.
Hope that helps. Please inform what hp model you have for further help.

Cheers,

Pedro
