Question about Sony VAIO GRX550 Notebook

Sony vaio suddenly had the computer go black while using. Now when I try to reboot I get error message " no operating system" what can I do I need the data from the computer?? I can access the bios but nothing else

If you can perform the repair that I mentioned is your other post, then your data will not be lost. If you have to reformat and reload the system, or the drive has failed, then you will lose the data. The only way to retrieve it is to send it off to a retrieval company, and that;s expensive.

it might the hard disc not rebooting, due to some loose connection. you can tried to open the back cover using a screw diver then look for a loose connection, fix it then reboot the unit. hope this can help thanks for using the fixya.

Sony VAIO VGN-NW240F/B sometimes will boot up normally and reports a controller / hhd error. It will stay on for a while and shortly thereafter it will go dark and display operating system not found.Reboot...


reformat HDD reload OS; i.e. windows then restart
your computer is saying that the hard drive can no longer find the operating system as it is corrupted

Disk Access: Sense operation failed


Have tried to reboot it through its own internal memory w/out the discs? Restart your computer, get into your bios to go to factory restore and do it from there. You should be good to go from there w/out the discs. : )

Get error message "operating system not found"


Run diagnostics on the harddrive. if possible reseat the Hard drive, i.e take it out and put it back again. and then try installing the OS. remember you have to boot from the laptop to install OS. Hope you are doing it correctly

Try rebooting and hitting the F8 repeatedly as soon as the boot sequence starts. When it comes up to an options screen select repair. From there you can let windows try to repair or select to install to the factory settings.

Vaio error message


This generally indicates a hard drive failure, but occasionally it's just an operating system glitch. Start by doing a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive and install a fresh operating system. If you have any problems during or after the format or install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced.

Operating error

It seems that your operating system may have been corrupted thats why u are receiving that message. so you would have to re-install the operating system on your notebook.

Problem with Administrator Settings


try to open the windows in safemode to open windows in safe mode press F8 when your system start

if you can work in safemode try to restore windows to a pervious date

Have yout tried to recover without any partition defined? Try to execute with your hard drive clean.
