Hello,

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Take care.

My sony mds-303 is ejecting new disc and saying disc error

I had the same problem. Take the top off and wind the loading wheel until the mechanism engages and loads - but with no disc in place. Then unplug the power and look through the top. You will see the lens. Clean with rubbing alcohol and a q tipi and dry with a clean q tip. Try playing a disc

Hi what does Error 03 mean?

My endeavor has done this error 3 a couple of times and the cd changer basically shuts off all lights and won't do anything. Someone on another solution page said to slide a credit card back and forth in the cd opening to fix the problem. I've done this both times and it has made the changer play again as if nothing had happened : )

My 0xc000000c "Restore Failed" prompt seemed to be the result of disk surface damage on the restore disk. After burning the restore disk to a new disk, the restore proceeded normally. Try making a copy of the original restore disk to a known good blank disk.

Disc will start loading than error comes up saying

The laser diode has gone bad. You will need a new lens assembly, just search google for "PS2 Lens Assembly" and you'll find plenty of places to buy them from.

Psp error # 80010087 The game can not be started

Hi robbimic,

The first thing to check is the firmware of your PSP. You should make sure that your PSP has the latest firmware loaded. Because some games will not work or load up if the latest firmware is not installed or loaded up.
You usually get this error message 80010087 if the UMD drive has errors reading the UMD disc or otherwise the disc is not present or was ejected while in the middle of playing a game or loading a movie. I suggest that you try to testing to see if the problem happens with other UMD discs, if it doesn't then most likely the disc could be damaged or scratched.

Now if you are using a modded PSP then you will get this error if you load a game from the memory stick without having any UMD disc inserted in the drive. Or if the game that you are trying to load requires a higher firmware version installed into the PSP. You will be required to flash a higher modded firmware to fix this error if this is your case.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)
