Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Router
I have an orange internet account. I used to connect through my PC and a speedtouch adsl modem. I recently bought a macbook and the netgear router wpn824v3. I can log in to the router from the macbook (wirelessly) but when the smart wizard runs it says I have "No internet connection". If I unplug the adsl line from the router and plug it back in to my speedtouch I can connect to the internet through my PC, no problem. The username and password are correct too. This has me stumped. I've already tried manually inputing the DNS Server addresses but with no joy. Help!!
Try the Speedtouch ADSL modem direct to the macbook. No NetGear Router (powered off). Verify that the macbook could surf/browse/connect to the Internet. Get the IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS assigned to the macbook. Write this down. Disable DHCP of Speedtouch.
Disconnect the Speedtouch from the macbook. Connect Netgear Router to macbook (WiFi or wired/LAN). Log into router. Do not run Smart Wizard. In WAN/Internet/Modem setting of router enable/check static IP Add. Use the IP numbers previously assigned to macbook that you have written down as the routers WAN/Internet/Modem IP settings. Save and reboot router. Connect Speedtouch to router.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.

The settings in the netgear are wrong.. make sure you plug the adsl into the internet port and other devices into the other ports.
