Question about Brother MFC-5440 Printer

Brother MFC-5440CN Ink Status

I recently replaced an ink cartridge (Brother brand) and the status still shows the ink level as "Low ink". Any way to clear this status so that it shows the proper status?

I have the same problem.I did go to Staples store and the person told me to clean the heads of the cartridges with alcohol and the bottom injector. I tried that and it did not work.It keeps telling me the ink is low even if I put in new ones. I am going to try the alcohol solution to see if it works. If not I will return to store for an exchange.I really like the printer.

Brother Inkjet printers' printheads are very sensitive, using non-genuine ink clots the printhead. Try to clean the head by pressing the ink maintenance button. Sometimes you need to clean several times.

How to check ink level on brother MFC-9440CN?

Hello,
Run the Brother Control Center. Click Device settings. Click where it says Inklevel.

A simpler way is Start-->All Programs-->Brother--> ...-->Status Monitor.
An icon will lodge itself on the tray (a printer). When icon is clicked on, the inklevels will show.

Hope it helps.

Maybe you can try reinstalling the driver or if the cartridge was bought from 3rd party, you might want to buy one directly from the manufacturer.
Good Luck.

If you have used generic ink the head is clogged and cant be cleaned anymore.

Last chance is to use original brother ink which has cleaning fluids within the ink. Run the cleaning procedure twice and simply print 10 PAGES afterwards. Wait A DAY AND TRY TO PRINT IN MAG AGAIN:

If there will be no mag. the ph is definitley clogged and needs replacement.

nice to know what your ink levels are isn't it But these gadgets no matter which make of printer are software glitches that do a compute on the numbers pages printed its not like a fuel gauge in you car with a float in the tank. So don't worry too much about it.
