Make sure that your sound card driver is installed and functional: try playing a song. If it works, or other video/movie produce sound, then the decoder 'Codecs' available may not be compatible with the format of the video/movie you are trying to play now: instead of microsoft media player, try installing and using another player such as the free VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Hope it helps.
Yes there is something wrong! The sound card driver is corrupted!
YOu need to check on device manager again. Look for your drivers there.
If you do not see the EXACT NAME of your sound card, then the driver that is installed is a DEFAULT driver made by the os.
Ex: This is a sound card driver name listed in Device manager:
IDT HIGH DEFINISION AUDIO
This is an example of a default sound card driver that will not work well on certain sounds or will not work at all:
LEGACY SOUND DEVICE
Even thought you many not see a yellow question mark (which you should be checking for too just in case)on any of the listings for your hardware, chances are you are still using a default sound card driver due to a corruption to its original sound card driver.
So recheck your device manager and find out the exact name of your original sound card. If there is no match to your exact name of your sound card, then you need to REINSTALL your sound card driver again and you will immediatly see your sound card working again :)
If this does not work, you may have to change your sound card.
Hi Sir, The problem is with the codec that is require to play
sound. You can resolve this by playing your DVD in another player like
VLC media player or you will have to install the latest codec pack
which supports major Audio and Video formats.
Following are the links to download both the VLC media player and K-Lite mega codec pack- Download any one of them and install on your system.I am pretty sure this will resolve your problem.
first the sound driver is not installed in ur pc
no picture would be shown unless u have not installed ur sound card
Remove the card & clean it & placed it & proerly installed the graphic card driver it might solve ur all 3 problem
plz tell if the media player played picture without sound and did not play at all.
if it did not play at all then you have to update the media player with new version. you find the new version of media player at microsoft site.
most likely you have a faulty sound card. Is the sound card built into the motherboard? If it is, go into the bios and disable it and goto the local box store and get cha a SoundBlaster sound card to replace.
Other option is send the motherboard back where you got it from and get replacement.
