This problem happened to me. You have to find the right COM port that the PC assigned to your printer. Go to " Control Panel" and find the "printers" and add you printer using each time different COM port. After each addition, try tp print and see.
Good luck!

There were many instances why the computer says "printer is not responding" either it is not configured correctly. for a start..

try this go to start- printer- right click the desired printer- open up properties- then click print test pages-

if it does print then it should work on all platforms, if it doesnt then you might have installed the wrong drivers.

try this first

try to use a new USB cable maybe the problem is on the cable this transfers the data from your PC to the Printer this is a common issue for printers. Or update your printer driver.

My Canon Pixma IP 2200 Inkjet Photo Printer won't respond to any printing commands. It is installed in my programmes. I have tried troubleshooting re setting but it still won't work.

Bottom right of your computer screen where your speaker icon would be? Is there a printer icon?
Printers will buffer (collect) till they can be printed. even if you shut down your computer and restart, these buffered print ques may not leave - printer traffic stops on this first print in the Que.
Right mouse click this printer icon and open all active printers. if there is more then one in this buffer, then select all of these and cancel them..

If this doesn't help and your USB and power cables are connected then unplug your USB cable and wait about 10 seconds and then reinsert your usb cable - see if your computer responds by indicating your printer has been identified. And try printing then.

Best photo printing and general use printing. Canon
