Question about HP Photosmart 3310 Printer

Access door will not closwe.

Myn photsmart 3310 ink access door will not shut. No codwes show, only message stating door is open.

    The same happened to me. I went on HP's site and had a live chat with one of their reps. The person told me to disconnect the printer and the powerpack from the wall, wait 30 seconds and reconnect. I did it, but it was still locked. He then said that he suspected it was a hardware problem...then suggested that the option was to upgrade or replace the printer. I told him that I noticed that this was a recurrent problem mentioned on the web and I asked if there was any other option. He again recommended a new printer. I asked if there was a recall on the printer - NONE. Any other option? NO. So, I told him what I needed in a printer and he told me that he could arrange for an exchange for "much discounted prices". He came back with a "New PS C8100 HP @ $359". I asked him for the reduced prices, and he said that IS the reduced price, with my exchange of my defective printer. I politely declined his offer. Here, though, is what really upsets me. I know that the printer is out of warrantee, but this is a widely known problem. HP should respect their own reputation and endeavor to correct this wrong. Second, their rep told me that I could get a new printer from HP at "much discounted prices". It is very strange that this "discounted price" ($359) is the SAME price that HP asks for this printer on their website. Cheating and lying to your customers. Bad form, HP.

    I have not taken any steps except to take the machine to Office Depot for them to close.

    I ended up taking mine back to Best Buy. I bought the 3 year extended warranty, and I am very glad that I did. It'll take about 4-6 weeks to hear something, but at least I'm not shelling out another $400 for a printer. Interesting...when I brought in the printer, they were lost on how to ship it - they can't ship it with the door open, and the door won't close. One of the "Geek Squad" guys tried to close it, and it was met with a loud CRACK!, but it was still stuck open. Then I started to worry about the warranty I bought. It doesn't cover physical damage, but in order to ship it, they will likely inflict physical damage. A horrible catch 22. Anyway, they typed the problem on the ticket sent into their service center, so I'm hopeful.

    I have the same problem, there has to be a solution besides having to take it apart completely. Especially for those who are not to good and taking thigs apart and putting it back together. Someone please help!!!!!!!

I have the same problem and found it's a broken right back hinge. The plastic that holds the pin in place is broken and the spring underneath is preventing the access door from closing properly. Unfortunately, I had to take it apart to see it. If hp (or any other computer company) stocked these cheap parts, they couldn't make money selling disposable computer products...sad but true. I'll be looking for a cheap 3310 for replacement parts for mine...

    Just a note: I found a non-working 3310 on ebay for less than $30 (includes shipping) problem is solved plus I've got extra parts.

Hmm..sounds like maybe the ink cartridges need to be reseated.

If the hp 3310 printer is out of two coloured inks would it show the message "ink system failure"?

being driven mad with a stupid "Ink Expiration Near" message show up on HPPhotosmart 6100! ..... and two printheads each dealing with 2 of the 4 coloured inks.

if you have performed all the ts steps then there is not much steps to do.. what you can do is a reset on the printer by doing a simple step..
unplug the power chord from the back of the printer >> press the pound (#) and no 6 key together >> without releasing the button plug in the power chord...
the alignment will continue..
check if this works or not or else i m afraid that you need to replace the printer.

Kodak printer states printhead loose or missing, this error message came on when I replaced the introductory color cartridge, which occured 1 week after taking out of box.

To resolve this error:
  1. Open the printer access door.
    Disconnect the power cord
  2. Remove the color and black ink cartridges.
  3. Remove, then reinstall the printhead.
    • Unlatch the printhead:

      press the button in the upper-left corner of the carriage.

    • Lift the printhead out of the carriage.
    • Place the printhead in the carriage.
    • Press firmly against the target label on the printhead until it clicks into place.
  4. Install the color and black ink cartridges.
  5. Close the printer access door.
  6. Connect the power cord.
  7. Then follow the instructions on the LCD screen

Cartridge Carrier is Blocked

Check the all-in-one product for paper jams and reset the paper feed motors.
Normally the cause of these errors is a piece of paper or other material in the paper path. Sometimes the paper feed assembly has become unsynchronized. Use the following steps to correct these issues:
1: With the all-in-one turned on and ready, open the ink-cartridge access door. The ink cartridges come to an access point if the carriage can move.
2: Unplug the black power cord from the back of the product. The power plug must be pulled out to resynchronize the paper feed and carriage motors. Simply turning the product off does not work.
3. Remove both ink cartridges and lower the ink cartridge latches, as shown in the figure below, so that they do not catch on the product frame when the product reinitializes. Do not close the ink-cartridge access door at this time.
4: Remove the remaining print media from the paper supply tray. Discard any pieces of media that are damaged.
5. Unlock and remove the rear access door.
6. Being very careful, slowly and gently pull any jammed media out of the product through the rear access door.
7: Make sure that no jammed media remains in the product. Be sure to check inside of the product on the sides to verify that media did crumple into these areas.
8: Reinsert and lock the rear access door. Make sure that the door locks fully. The paper can skew if the rear access door is not fully locked.
9. Close the ink-cartridge access door. 10. Plug the power cord into the back of the product. If the product does not automatically turn on, press ON. Let the product initialize until a front panel message appears, requesting ink cartridges. If the carriage cannot move, remove the power cable again and determine what the carriage is caught on. Manually move the carriage to free it from whatever has blocked, it and then repeat this step. 11: Open the product and reinsert the ink cartridges. 12. Reload the input tray with print media and try printing again. The media must be loaded properly for it to feed correctly. It must be fully inserted into the product but not to the point that it bows from the pressure. 13. The HP all-in-one product will request that an alignment be performed after closing the ink-cartridge access door. Perform the alignment. The HP all-in-one product should be fully functional when the alignment is complete. It might be necessary to repeat the process more than once if the product was completely out of synchronization. Clean the paper rollers If the issue persists after checking the paper path and resetting the all-in-one product, follow these steps: 1. With the product on, open the ink-cartridge access door. The ink cartridges come to an access point if the carriage can move. 2. Unplug the black power cord from the back of the product. With the power cord unplugged, the print carriage (the part that the ink cartridges are in) can be moved. 3. Locate the four small, metal paper rollers (not the rubber rollers) and the carriage rod as shown in the figure below. The carriage rod is the large metal rod that the print carriage rides on. If these rods are not bright and shiny or if they have buildup on them, they should be cleaned. 4. Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water (distilled water preferred) to clean the rollers and the carriage rod. With the power cord unplugged, print carriage should move back and forth freely so that all parts can be cleaned 5. Open the rear access door. Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water (distilled water preferred) to clean the three rollers that are shown in the figure below. Close the rear access door when the cleaning is finished. 6. Close the all-in-one product and reconnect the power cord. Try printing again to see if the issue is corrected Hope this should fix the problem Good luck.............

Try the following:

1. Open the printer access door.
2. Put out both ink cartridges and the printhead.
3. Let the printer access door open.
4. Put out all paper.
5. Pull out the ac adapter at the back of the printer.
6. Wait 60 sec.
7. Pull in AC adapter.
8. Wait 30 sec. then turn on the printer
9: Wait for the error message: Printer access door open.
10. Close the printer access door.
11. Wait for the error message: Printhead is missing.
12. Open the access door and put in only the printhead and the close the access door.
13. Wait for the error message: both ink cartridges are missing.
14. Open access door, put in only the black ink cartridge, then close the acess door.
15. Wait for the error message: Color ink cartridge is missing.
16. Open access door, put in the color ink cartridge and then close the access door.

If the error is solved, do a firmwareupdate right now.

Well, here is the proper way of fixing or troubleshooting that paper jam error in your printer

Open the printer access door and remove both of the ink cartridge, then remove also the printhead, after that close the printer access door, without those parts. Then it will show a message in the printer screen, "Printhead is missing or has come loose" or "Printhead Not Detected" Install the printhead, just the printhead without the ink cartridges. After that close the printer access door. Then it will show you a message"Ink cartridges is not installed,install ink cartridges". then open again the printer access door, then install the black ink cartridge without the color ink cartridge. then close the printer access door, then message must be " Color ink cartridge is not installed, install color ink cartridge" then install the color ink cartridge." the message must be,"New printhead is detected calibration require, load paper and press start"

Thats the way of overiding the paper jam error message of your kodak all in one printer
