Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+
I just purchased and installed a new Sears Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener with rolling code tranmsmitters less than a week ago. Since it has been installed, we have found the door open on several occassions. No one in the household pushed any buttons to open the door. Since we have been finding it open we have been double checking that it is for sure closed when we close, but still have found it open later on.
Any ideas on why it is opening automatically? If it has a rolling code transmitter I thought this prevents neighbors from having the same code, but could this still be happening?
Sears doesn't seem to have a phone number to call for troubleshooting questions and I don't think I need an installer to come out, since I know it is installed correctly.
Shocked. i do not recode new units. rolling codes have 100 billion comos and change each use. go buy a lottery ticket cause you got the ` in 100 million.

I moved my wall-mounted controller and (unfortunately) the new location had a bump out (drywall seam). There must have been a twist in the unit when I tightened the screws. The same symptoms as you describe, occurred. Loosening the screws to reduce the tork or moving it solved my problem.

Do you live anywhere near a military base? This may sound like a strange question, but the military began using frequencies that are the same as garage door openers, and a lot of people near bases are having trouble with their door openers. These frequencies were reserved some time ago for the military, but weren't used until maybe a year or so ago. Countrycurt0
