Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an HP Pavilion 500 series. I cannot remember ever using the com port. Now that I need it. It appears to be dead. The biosis shows it active. I have tried a serial mouse, a joystick, and virtual weathers heavy weather software. I know it is not the software, because I plug it into my other computer, and it works.

Might be your com port is creating problem. If u have checked your motherboard bios for com port to be enable and all serial devices are working fine on another machien then there is also a chance for attaching another com port in your pc.Find out the second com port and attach one serial cable.

Where can I get a connection diagram for this model?

You can't go wrong with the cables of the Pavillion Desktop.
Follow the steps shown in attached poster
Look for the color at the end of mouse, keyboard and insert in corresponding ports. Remember to align the pins correctly and insert with minimum pressure.

How do i use the mmc/sd port

Hi !

First, you have to make sure that you have installed the proper drivers for your mmc/sd port.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Media-Center-m7000-Desktop-PC-series/1847154/model/3185130/drivers

Restart after installing. After that, just insert the mmc into the slot and you should see it on "My Computer" or press Win+E.

Motherboard replace processor cpu i have an hp pavilion a820n tower with no cpu or power supply can u tell me what kind i need?

the processor to fit the mobo is a pentium 4 socket 775. the original was a 3.2G according to the HP website.
most standard 500 watt power supplies should fit.
it does concern me why there is no processor or power supply in it though.
are you sure the mobo is ok? the only reason I would think these parts have been removed is because the mobo is dead and they've been transplanted into something else.

I feel a bit stupid asking this but I've just bought a HP Pavilion Slimline s5210uk and the main reason I chose it was the 5.1 surround sound option - but it only seems to have 1 green sound output socket,...

Should have an ALC 888 on board sound driver. There are a bunch of 1/8 inch female jacks on the back of the computer. They should be color coordinated. Can't remember exactly but Green, Black and either pink or orange are used.

Usb port malfunctioning

look in device manager
make sure the usb has no yellow or red showing on them
if they do verify they aren't disabled then update drivers ,allow to auto install
also make sure you haven't accidently disabled USB support in bios
