Question about Goldstar R1003 Air Conditioner
New friedrich 28000 btu ac.put through wall. nice tight fit 2 by 6 wall. when on makes a sound like fan is hitting something. all seal gasket's were put on. book calls for 3/8 inch tilt but was given 1/4 inch tilt. is that enough ? don't want water to come into house. don't want to drill hole in pan because i don't think that is good idea. fresh air lever is very hard to move so i leave it in closed. model number is sl28l30 should i send it back because it is so new or let tech look at it first ? what do you think these problems are ? should not have this on a brand new unit. what do you think ? thankyou.
Not sure if it's an R1003, however, I have had the unit 3 years without problems. It was installed in May and just the other day started making noises like the fan is hitting something (very intermittently). Yesterday, there was a fair amount of water spitting from the unit into the room (only when the fan made noise). Water is draining from the back where it is supposed to. Compressor seems to be ok and unit is cooling. It wasn't anywhere as humid as it has been in the past, however we have had alot of rain in the last week or so.
I really hope you can let me know what is causing this.
I used to be a "Factory Authorized" person, and I bet Friedrich would rather do a warranty call than have you return the machine for a refund. Phone them to see if they are cooperative. When the tech gets there, you can ask ALL your questions and point out every little sticky thing. That's his job!
The tech will be able to get parts and know how to adjust things.
For the second person, you have to look into the space where the fan is hitting something. A mirror and a flashlight will be needed. I kind of get a feeling the water isn't draining fast enough. Look for a plastic tube from the front water pan to the rear water pan. They get plugged up.
