Question about Ovens
I am replacing the tired sealant on the external glass door.
Rather than apply the sealant to the hinges in situ, I want to remove the door assembly and repair it while flat. I am not sure how to remove the door - can you help?
The doors are easy to remove if you know how.!
Where the hinge enters the door itself, there is a little catch which can be turned with a flat screwdriver.
By doing so you prevent the hinge from moving into the door.
Do this on both sides.
Then allow the door to move towards the closed position.
About 3/4 of the way to closing, grasp the door at each side, firmly, and move it from side to side gently.
The hinges will begin to dislodge from the oven frame.
The door will be free to remove and be worked on.
The sealant which holds the glass door to the hinges, needs to be a silicone that is heat resistent.
Silcoset 158 Silicone Adhesive Sealant in a 75ml tube has done the job for me - other brands are available online - but make sure they are heat resistent to 300C
