Hello,
I have a IBM Lexmark WheelWriter 1000 typewriter. The right side of the typewriter where you usually have your lights (i.e bold, caps lock, lang, re PRT) are all lit up. The part inside where the ribbon cartridge is does not go back and forth when you first turn it on, and if you hit any key it doesnt respond.
Is this typewriter fixable?
Andrea

It could be a bad carrier return motor or the carrier is stuck . Turn it off and try to move the carrier left and right it should move with light pressure if it don't try wiping the round rail it slides on with a light oil then work it back and forth a few times repeat until it moves when turned on.
