M7Y15 Maytag room air conditioner. Fan goes on but no cooling. Display reads random numbers from 76 to 88 and 25-31 when fan or mode buts are pressed. Display also read EE. Very strange. Unit is only 3 yrs old and Maytag/fedders is not offering any warranty service.

I managed to find the people who supplied the unit, it was still under warranty, and they said it was the thermistors (temprature probes, they replaced both of them) It is now working perfectly!

It needs to be re-charged with freon.

I think it's becuase the water tank on the side is full and when that happens it turns off. Empty the water...and then reach your hand in and find a small reset button press it and then but the chamber back in and see if that works. I had that problem and same code

If the a/c fails to continue to blow cold there could be a few problems you can look for. First once you activate the system check to see if the compressor kicks in. You will hear the compressor humming . Once the a/c quits cooling go and see if the compressor is still running. If its not running its probibly gone into thermal overload (compressor overheated). If that is the case then you need to check to see if the coils are icing up if they are icing up then the problem is with 1) air flow restriction filter dirty, coils dirty simple repairs there replace filter, clean evaporator coil with a coil cleaner that can be purchased at a home repair store cleaning the condensor coil the same. 2) system is low on freon in which case the system will need to be recharged. Also, If you have a digital thermostat replace the batteries that may also be of some help. Good Luck on repairs

insufficient cooling have several reason,most common factor is low freon charging due to service factor,defective thermostat control,dirty evaporator and condenser fin,try to check the current rating using ammeter clamp tester if the rated current read in tester below the rated current on tag(compressor)
you need to charge freon,if the fin and evaporator is dirty need to ve clean,if the thermostat is not functioning replace thermostat.
also consider the main defective if the aircon is running chck the compressor if it is running by touching the tip of screw driver to the top body of compressor you can feeel vibration,if compressor is not running yo don't have cooling effect only blowing of air.on repairing this this should be done by a certified aircon technician,have a nice day fix my rate,thank you very much.
