Usually replacing the coin cell battery fixes the no boot problem. Look on the motherboard around the processor socket. Electrolytic capacitors can overheat. If you see any of them that are bulging (top is domed instead of flat), they are bad. Trying to replace all the bad ones is tedious and expensive. May be cheaper to replace the motherboard.

As you boot the computer, press F8. You'll get the boot menu. Select 'Safe Mode with Networking'. Now the computer should be able to get into Safe Mode.
Get on to internet, Start a free registry scan from www.registryfix.com
If this fails, you may need the Windows Installation Disk to fix it.

Okay, sounds like your BIOS upgrade went south. First off, re-install the original BIOS. Usually you back up the original before upgrading. Either that, or d/l the original BIOS from emachines.com. Once you've got the BIOS working, try starting the system. I'll need to know more to help you from there.
SOURCE: power supply replacement for emachine et1641-02w
i just bought a emachines as well and i noticed when purchasing a new video card that it required a 450 watt power supply, so i went to check and see how much the one i had just purchased had and of course it was 250! that is soooo low, anywho, what i am sayin is if you think that you are going to add any drives or a after market vid card then yes you need to replace the powersupply in ur emachines with at least a 500 watt, they are like 50 to 100 dollars at tigerdirect
