I just bought a used ETX125 PE the motor that lifts the scope seems to power out,or simple cannot swing up!

Are you using the internal batteries? Are they fresh and fully charged?

Replace them and try again; or better get a seperate 12 volt power pack and the correct Meade 12 volt cigarette lighter style power cable.

I have a meade telescope ETX-90 that a friend just gave to me .When i went to change the batteries i found the batteries where corroded and one of the contacts where broken. How do i get this fixed?

You can send it back to Meade but they will charge you several hundreds of dollars.

Why not just buy a separate 12 volt power pack and run the scope using that and the proper cigarette lighter style power plug. That's what I do on my ETX125 and I never even put any batteries inside -- the scope will perform better with a solid 12 volt power supply.

I am trying to repair the motor drive in the fork of the 125 model, and would like to aquire a repair manual. the motor in the base runs fine, but when I pulg in the Auto Star paddle from my 6 inch...

Your problem may not be the motor?

Is this a 497 hand controller? If it is check the TELESCOPE TYPE in the controller. It should read ETX125. You cannot just switch controllers. The controller has been TRAINED for the other scope.

To switch it you must do a RESET, Calibrate motors and then train the drives. These "values" are stored inside the hand controller. If you move it to another type of Meade telescope you must RESET and do Calibrate sensors and Training again.

The dis-assembly pictures are located on the Mighty ETX web site here:

I need an 8 x 25mm Right angle viewfinder for a Meade ETX-125EC Astro Telescope

Many retailers sell these. The catch is to find one that will MOUNT to the ETX125. Try these two retailers:

http://www.optcorp.com/

Call them and see what they have.

MEADE ETX 125 Motors have stopped

The ETX125 is notorious for bad motor control. Weasner's Mighty ETX web site has links to repair centers that are more reasonable than Meade. They also have a QA section to assist with diagnostics.

Motor unit fault DS 2000

Continual motor faults simple mean something is broken inside the telescope--- motors, or gears--- something is preventing the motor from turning the telescope.

Time to either take it back and get a replacement... or send it in for repairs.

MotorFault

Hi
In response to your email the whole unit is being returned to supplier motor problem is manufacturers electrical fault the meade etx-125pe should have motor limiters fitted which stops the scope slewing more than two revolutions in any direction to stop potential wiring damage this unit does not have them or they are faulty hence motor fault.

ETX125 PE new model. Elevation has totally stopped.

Could be that the DEC motor driver has died. That could be verified by swapping the connections between the RA and DEC. If the DEC now moves, then that is the problem. If not, then the DEC motor is bad.
