I have a new computer with windows vista and a new printer lexmark model # 6170 all in one. My printer does not work? What do i need to do?

1. Turn Printer off and disconnect it from your computer.

2. Go to

http://www.lexmark.com/

3. Select "Drivers and Downloads" from the menu bar toward the top of the page. (Then select "Learn more" from the Drivers and Downloads section of the page offered)

4. Select "All in one" from"Search Product by Type" or type your product number in the search field.

5. Select your model printer from those offered.

6. Download the drivers and software for your printer.

7. Install the drivers/software, and at the appropriate point it will instruct you to attach your printer to your computer with the provided USB cable and turn your printer on. Simply follow the installation prompts from the Lexmark software.

How can I install the software for lexmark 6170 on a system runing Vista OS?
There are Lexmark X6170 drivers available for download in the Lexmark website. Don't connect the printer yet to the computer with the usb cable. First, check your Vista if it's running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by clicking on the Windows logo Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. For the software, click on this link: http://bit.ly/9hBALQ (for 32-bit) or this link: http://bit.ly/9q98H3 (for 64-bit). Download and install. Just follow the instructions. Hope this helps. Lexmark X-6170 instalation to my desktop comp.
There are Lexmark X6170 drivers available for download in the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/b0XDka. Printer only works with Windows operating system. No drivers for Macintosh unfortunately. Choose the correct driver compatible with the version of your computer's operating system. Download and install the software. My lexmart want work with my vista
go to www.lexmark.com and in the search box type in "6170" and click on the search button.

It will bring you to the page for you lexmark x6170 printer. scroll down and in the drivers and downloads section click on windows vista.

Then on the next page in the recommended downloads area click on the tab that says windows vista. There will be a name of the file you have to download. Click on the download button and let the file download.

Once the download is done, double click on the filename which should be cjrx6100en.exe. Let it run and it should install the software and have your computer recognize the printer.

Printer won't print
Although Lexmark has not released a Windows Vista driver for the Lexmark X75 printer, there is a good chance that Vista will support your printer without the need for installing a driver (i.e. Windows Vista probably comes with a driver for your printer already built into the operating system). Windows Vista comes with support for 2.2 million devices and since your printer is not a new model, it is likely to be supported. Just try connecting it to a computer that is running Windows Vista and see if it is detected and installed for you.

We do have the drivers for Windows 2000 and Windows XP available for download from our driver database:

Lexmark Printer
I am guessing your new PC has Windows Vista.

Although Lexmark doesn't have Vista drivers available for that model, people have had success using Windows 2000 drivers with many older Lexmark printers.

It may work, or it may not. The only other option is to wait for Lexmark to release the Vista driver. They are always adding Vista drivers for the older models.

Just got new computer with windows vista now my lexmark p6250 printer dos"t work
You will need to install Vista driver to suit, please note that orginal scanning software is not available but you will find within Vista itself the ability to scan.
