Hello,

I will assume that the operating system that you have is XP. If you can give me the exact error that comes up when you start I will be able to give you more detailed information. Until then, here is a link that details how to run system restore in safe mode, which may help if it is a software issue.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449

Here is an explanation of the screens that you will see when System Restore starts.

When you switch the laptop on, tap the F8 key a few times and the machine should boot to a black page with white lettering.
You will be given options of "boot" you can try "last known good configuration" but I would opt for "safe mode".
If you can get into safe mode go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and then select a time and date to restore your machine back before this problem started.

Shut down

Possible corrupt operating system. The cause of corrupt operating system is Windows file corrupted or virus infected Windows.

Solution corrupt Windows files:
1. START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Recovery Options - System Restore (restore to the date when the OS is still normal)
2. START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Recovery Options - System Image Recovery (restore using a backup system that you created)

Solution files corrupted due to virus infected windows
Update anti-virus and virus scan (if the virus is detected, the primary action = repair, secondary action = quarantine). Then repair the operating system with System Restore or System Recovery Options.
Note:
If the operating system infected with virus (virus infected not long ago), the best solution is to use System Restore. Restore to a date when the windows are still normal.

My toshiba satellite pro/ 415cs laptop wont start up / says it needs a setup disk

Hi,

If you are using the OEM operating system from Toshiba, use the disc which came with the laptop. But if you are using a retail operating system from Microsoft, use operating system setup disc.

You can attempt to use the appropriate disc to repair corrupted files. Take note that some Operating system files are unrepairable which leads you to installing the whole operating system.

Hope this helps.

Download and Install

If the reinstallation of this software does not help then the issue must be related to a corrupt Windows Vista files and in my opinion the usage of the Toshiba recovery CD should helps.

Thanks for using Fixya

Can not start window vista operating system?

this error is the system corruption error and indicate that the system files have gone bad due to some reason. system recovery can be done to relode the operating system//
shut the comp off // restart it and start tapping f10 key on the keyboard// go to recovery option and follow the steps to do system recovery// remember you will loose all your documents which is saved if you do not have the backup on external HDD.
but there is no other alternative/ the HDD will get formatted and the o/s will be reloaded in new way/
your system will be as good as new // if f10 will not work then you will have to call toshiba support and get the new set of recovery cd to do the recovery on the computer//

I WANNA INSTALL XP2 BUT MY SYSTEM SHOWS ERROR: C000022UNKNOWN HARD ERRORSYSTEMROOTSYSTEM32NTDLL.DLL

  1. This problem may occur if the file that is described in the error message is corrupted. The following files are checked for integrity when Microsoft Windows XP starts:
  2. All driver files (except those that are loaded by the system loader to start. the computer)
  3. All dynamic-link libraries (DLLs), including User, Graphics Device Interface (GDI), Shell, Kernel, Ntdll, Crtdll, and others.
  4. This problem may occur if you install an inappropriate driver for your hardware. For example, you receive one of the error messages that are described in the "Summary" section if you install a MIPS driver on an X86-based computer.

This problem may occur if an Iomega Zip drive is on the same integrated device electronics (IDE) cable as the hard disk drive.
  5. To resolve this problem, obtain a new copy of the corrupted file or reinstall Windows XP. If you continue to receive any one of the error messages that are described in the "Summary" section after you reinstall Windows XP, a hardware problem or a network problem may exist.
  6. This error message may be displayed in many different formats, including an error message that is displayed on a blue screen or an error message that is displayed in a dialog box. The type of format that the error message is displayed in depends on how much of the operating system was loaded when the corrupted file was detected.

Laptop won't boot up

This is an operating system error, and sometimes indicates a hard drive failure. Start by running a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. This usually takes care of it, if it doesn't, reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If you have any issues during or after the format or install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced.

Dll error

This is an operating system error. You will need to run a system repair or reload with your recovery or operating system disc. Start with a repair, if the repair doesn't fix it, then reformat and reinstall the operating system. If you have any issues or problems during the format or reload, then your hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.
