2003 chevy 1500 rear brake lights not working, but over the cab break light is. bulbs look good, the running lights work.

Sounds like a bad turn signal switch . both side brake lights run through it but the third brake l;ight runs direct from the brake light switch .- play with the hazard button a few times and if the start working you need the turn signal switch

May be a bad bulb or its connection is bad, replace the bulb and grease the socket, under the back of the vehicle, check for dangling wires, if your emergency lights all work it could be in the turn signals, this has nothing to do with dome light, Matt

Bad light bulbs are a good place to look...have you replaced any lately. Look for a bulb where the filiment may be broke and laying against the filiment below it. I would suspect the stop light bulbs first.

check voltage from the brake pedal switch to the signal sight switch, center light is not on the same circuit, first clue is the signsl lights work so all the wiring from the switch is good, also power to the signal switch is good but not power from the brake switch

Sounds like the turn signal flasher module has gone bad. It controls the brake lights and turn signals. It is located under the drivers side of the dash. If is a rectangular black box with a grey connector and 8 or so wires connected to it.
