it is not giving good speed

    Hi,

Just to avoid any ambiguity / misunderstanding, kindly clarify what you meant by kbps... Normally kbps would mean "Kilo Bits per Second" and KBps would mean "Kilo Bytes per Second".

If your connection is really 144kilobits per second, considering that you have a CDMA connection the maximum download speed that you could get is only 12KB (Kilo Bytes) per second. In which case there is nothing much you can do.

If you are using the MTNL unlimited Garuda plan, I would suggest you move to a better broadband connection if the above is the case.

Besides I heard that MTNL needs the network strength to be 100% during operation for maximum speed.

One thing to know while choosing internet plans is that the speed offered is in kb not kB. There is a huge difference between these two values. Small b stands for bits whereas capital B is byte which we know. the computer shows speed in bytes not bits so your 2 KBps is equal to 20kbps. Because you are using cd-ma connection you will need to operate from a area where you can find powerful network to utilize your full 144kbps that is 14.4 KBps.
Sorry the only solution is changing your plan to a higher speed one..

Internet speed slowed down after install of win 8.1

The type of Internet connection you use in windows 8 is the most important factor in determining your connection speed. The three most common ways to connect to the Internet from home are dial-up, DSL, and cable. If you have a choice, cable is usually the fastest, but both DSL and cable are faster than dial-up.Check with your phone company or Internet provider for more information. Then if you check your speed from http://www.scanmyspeed.com you will definitely see the difference

MTNL INTERNET PROBLEM

Hello.

Since your ISP provided you a username and password when connecting to a broadband connection, you have to setup the router's "Internet Connection Type" to PPPoE then you need to enter the username and password that you are using to connect to your broadband.

Once you do that, the router will obtain an IP address from your ISP(MTNL) then it will give connections to your computers
