@i have a set of dimensia spk500 rca speakers, which need the sub-woofers replaced.they call for an 11"cross carbon woofer. can you help?

you can replace the foam on the woofers if thats the only issue. I have a set of these and it takes an angel foam and glued to the inside. a 10" foam is what it takes. you can find them on ebay and other web pages. 10" foam surround.

I have Infinity SM 250 Speakers, and I can't find a repair kit, because the woofer foam has rotted, and I can't find anything at all about them on the net,

Go on eBay and search for "infinity speaker foam repair" and add the diameter or just thumb through what comes up.

JVC RX-515VTN: When I turn it on, th ereciever comes to life and then "Protect" flashes on the screen and then it automatically shuts off after about 10-15 seconds.

Check the rear panel for any loose connections, paying special attention to the speaker terminals. If you are using speaker wire without connectors, make sure that you have no stray strands of wire protruding outside the terminals or any broken strands.

Strand wire over time oxidizes and becomes brittle and easy to break so at any time the unit was moved while connected or anything else that would create tension on your connections it could easily break some wiring.

Also check the opposite ends of all of your connections at the speakers and input devices, i.e; DVD player, television etc.

Both left and right speakers have a very noticeable crackling noise throughout their output. Upon removal of the fabric grille the orange foam edges of the woofer are damaged / deteriorated and have fallen...

A repair kit should solve your problem. Make sure you get directinos and follow them. For not much more you could send them out to be re-foamed. Bing or google speaker refoaming

On our JVC RX-6030V When we try to play a CD we the receiver flashes "overload then shuts down. Is the receiver done, or is there a fix for this?

Only when playing a cd?? If it does it all the time it probably needs repair of one of the output channels. $80-$120 parts and labor. If it only does it on cd it would be very odd.

I have Imperial 4 speakers circa 1971. One of the woofers popped the center black cap and is now fuzzy at moderate bass levels. Can I get a replacement speaker somewhere? Thx, Rich

I do most of my vintage audio shopping on eBay.

You could probably get a whole pair of them for less than sourcing the individual woofer.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Marantz-Imperial-IV-Speakers-model-4-nice-cond-/290510404317?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item43a3c4fadd

Ends Dec 15, 201019:15:17 PST - Right now at $15.00 with $15.61 shipping.

Or maybe you just need to refoam them....

http://www.simplyspeakers.com/marantz-speaker-foam-edge-repair-kit-fsk-3.html

At $26.00 for this kit, I'd opt for whole speakers.

When I put a CD in any tray of my JVC MX-J30, it tells me "No Disc". What is the problem?

It may need the lens cleaned. Try running a lens cleaning disc for about 20 to 30 seconds. If that does not help, you will need to take it in for service if you want it fixed. The most common repair for these with that error is the laser pick up going bad. It would probably cost about $125 to repair depending on the repair centers rates.

If I can be of any more help to you let me know.

My stereo says "protect" when it comes on then it powers down

The protect messing indicates that a problem was found in the final output stage of the amplifier. To prevent further damage, the system shuts down. The typical problem are the output transistors which can fail. They are usually shorted. Expect a parts cost between $15-$40. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Substitute for Woofer p/n 141760

Hi there

Replace the foam for sure. It is always better than looking for another original driver to fit to the box, as they often have foam deterioration happening as well(spares are the same age as the originals) . A great idea(once repaired) is to use an artists paintbrush to apply "Armoural" a polyvinyl protectant to the foam. It will extend the life of it by at least double. They rot in hot humidity and heat environments and there is not alot that works better than that foam. I have done hundreds of speakers here in Queensland Australia. If you live in a hot humid area, there is probably a HiFi shop near you that does repairs to surrounds also. Good Luck

Do you have a source and knowledge for replacement of foam surrounds. holler back and I can help:)

regards
Graeme
