all Apple iOS devices can give a reset, by pressing both, the home button and the on/off button, for several seconds. (long enough till the apple loge comes on the screen. Then wait about one minute and press the on/off button to switch on again. When really does not work this way (don't forget to charge) visit the genius bar in an Apple store.
Or check out the supper site from Apple and follow their steps in this link: iPhone Apple Support
Hi, this happened to me once and I researched a fix by looking for 'iPhone black screen of death' Here's one of the current articles that comes up under that search: 1) If an application (such as Safari) is frozen, just press and hold the iPhone's home button for about 5 seconds, or until the home screen shows up. (This didn't work for my iPhone so we had to perform a soft reset). 2) To perform a soft reset, press and hold the iPhone's Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for several seconds, or until you see the apple logo on the screen. (This action did reset my iPhone and I was very happy at this point). The guys that helped me said that continually performing soft resets can cause problems however. 3) Hard resets are not recommended, but are required when a soft reset won't do the trick. The Apple Geniuses wouldn't tell me the key combo to perform a hard reset because it restores the iPhone to a state that's unusable. Users risk losing data and you must synch your iPhone with iTunes to make it function after a hard reset.
Also, if you are not turning off apps after use they could be overloading things and might cause it to happen again. to turn off apps do a double tap on the 'Home' button, and all your open apps will be listed along the bottom of the screen. press on one icon and hold until the icons start to wobble and have the X in the top right corner click on these to turn them off. Its also good practice to do this several times a day if you use a lot of apps because having ghem open eats up your battery power.
Try to reset it by taking out the batteries and leaving to sit for a minute or so, if that doesn't work take out the small battery as well and leave it sit, if you're still stuck you can callti-cares (800-842-2737) they're generally very helpful.
It sounds like you may have accidentally turned them off. To make sure the sounds are on, do the following:
1. Click on "Settings" 2. Select "Sounds" 3. At the bottom you will see "Lock Sounds" and "Keyboard Clicks".
If the sounds are on, I would then recommend preforming what's called a "Soft Reset". To preform this, do the following:
1.Press down the "Home" button and the "Lock" button at the same time. 2.Hold these buttons until you see the apple logo appear. 3.The iPhone may take up to 2 minutes to come back to your "Lock Screen"

screen, if that doesn’t work. Reset the phone or use iTunes to restore the
phone to the factory defaults. If that doesn’t work you will need to take the
phone by the Apple store and have them check it out. The touch screen component
of the iPhone is like a second screen under the display; it can break and you
can still have a perfectly clear picture but no touch response.
we need more info on the phone itself, has it recently been subjected to abuse water or physical? if so maybe the battery itself is damages also try to bull the battery and leave it out for a full minute! if you can get power and just not on the screen then maybe the lcd digitizer is damaged and needs replaced! (please write back with any result or questions)
Hmm. I've been browsing the net for iphone problems (courtesy of my own) and i remember reading something about this. Look up the Apple website, especially the discussion forums. You might find something there.
In the meantime, try restarting your phone. For that, press both the top on/off button and the Home button together and keep holding them down. Your screen will go blank but keep holding them and the phone will restart.
If this doens't fix things, look up other answers. You might have to restore your phone, like I had to, You should be able to find the procedure to restore easily on the Apple website.
