Graphics card didnt work so bought a new 1 and that doesnt work either, but the onboard 1 works, please help

Hello,

Reboot the computer and enter the BIOS.

Somewhere in the several pages of BIOS pages there is a place to turn off the onboard graphics.

This should enable the PCI graphics card.

I bought a video card 8J329, it doesnt match orig. mount

There are 3 types of "mounts" to put your video card in. PCI-express is the newest and fastest, AGP is the 2nd and PCI coming in last. None of them are interchangeable. If your new card doesnt match up to the slot available on your motherboard, then you will have to either return your card, or replace your motherboard, which woul likely include replacing your processor and ram, so if at all possible, see if you can exchange your card.
Check out this picture to see which slot you have.

Roll back the drivers to the original that worked and leave it there. Some times an update acts more like a downdate and screws things up. If your getting blue screens, its a hardware failure and is most likely do to the drivers just not being compatible with your system config.

You could also try updating the BIOS on the mainboard and see if that improves it.

I had alot of issues with ATI's catalyst on my last computer. the program kept causing problems so i removed catalyst and installed just the drivers and it worked great after that.

Is visiontek a radeon hd 2400 pro agp 8 compatible w/ p4s800- mx?

ATI has recently written some better drivers for the 2400 Pro AGP cards,... Make sure the setting in the BIOS for the motherboard is set to the AGP or PCI for primary video. For AGP, make sure that you have the power from the power supply connected to the video card. Make sure that your motherboard does support 8X AGP video cards. If you are not sure, please check with motherboard manufacturer for compatibility.

make sure all of the drivers are installed. also make sure that the print memory is empty because it was probly printing when you ran out of ink,and could still be waiting to finish.

Hah alright now the comp is not booting up! =[

I think that you should get someone local to help you through this - unless you are confident that you can do it yourself.

I suspect that you may be right about the motherboard.

Did you take all precautions as regards static electricity when working inside the case?

But before replacing the motherboard - try the hard drive in another computer and another computer's hard drive in this one. I say this because you said there was nothing from the hard drive and they do fail occasionally.

Obviously if the HD works in another computer then it is the motherboard and vice versa if another HD works in your computer. This will allow you to identify which component is faulty. I still think you are right about the MB though.

Hope you haven't thrown away those Video Cards! They might both be good.

Good luck.
