Question about Aiptek R-PKDV58 Flash Media Camcorder

1 Answer

Camcorder I have a pocket DV8800 Aiptek camcorder (model # DZO-V58) When I turn the camcorder on a short opening (for lack of a tech term) display plays on the display monitor with sound then there is an extremley short display that appears to possibly be a menu screen. I disappears so fast that I had to take a picture of it with my camera phone (lol) just to get an idea of what the screen was showing. I can make out almost all of the information displayed. The top left corner is a picture of a camera and just beside it is a pic of a lightning bolt with a red "x" on the bottom right side. Then just below the camera icon(still in the top left corner)appears to be the letters "VGA"(I am not sure because the pic is a little fuzzy). Then in the bottom middle part of the display the number 0017 is displayed. The rest of the display on the top right and bottom right are really fuzzy but the icon in the very bottom right corner is the battery icon and to the left of that is something with another red "x" on it. I can't tell at all what the two icons at the top right are. The only things I can get to show up on the display are the numbers for the volume control and if I push the record button the timer will display like it is recording but you can't see anything but a blank bluish gray screen. There is no external memory card but I borrowed one from a friend to see if that was the problem and a red box came on the screen that said "card change"(if my memory serves me well) Anyway I am very frustrated because upon power up it seems like it's going to work and then nothing, no menu no sound (other than at start up) nothing through the viewer, just that blue screen. Any suggestions? P.S. I am sorry for my horrible spelling...:-) Thank You! Carol S.

Hey try plugging in the cord to the USB Prt on the Hard-Drive, if you are plugging it into the Monitor or vice-versa. I have the same camera, and I plug it into the monitor. If all else fails, take out the memory card and put it into a digital camera, or something like that and connect the camera.

AIPTEK Dv8800 Driver malfunction? Answer

  1. aiptek web site has a driver solution for vista users I had same problem but with Win XP it keep seeing it as a flash drive .... I uninstalled drivers and re-installed them,- same error, then uninstalled again and removed the USB from device manager uninstalled direct X cause it was the newest version, then install everything from scratch without turning the camera on then try again and nothing, finally I turn to the manual and somewhere says "if you need to use it as web cam then press the menu button on the camera and select camara!!! as soon as I did that and additional port found in windows was detected and installed automatically then I got my video and microfono up and running. So easy right, but like always the software CD is missing the manuals too and people do not read. LOL .....
