Based on your post, probable fault could be:
remote - could be defective or simply the battery needs replacement. There are instances where the battery contacts would require cleaning or even scraping;
the remote control receiver of the TV is defective;
a button is pressed without human intervention making all other button non-functional including the on/off. A quick temporary fix is to lightly tap on the button with your finger to dislodged it. this could happen either on the remote or on the front panel control of the TV.

Initially, pls check as above described and post back for any developments (or even the lack of it).

Hope this be of initial help/idea.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Flickering can be of may causes. Internal self oscillation at the panel, and the fault to its T'Con board. Here, sometimes picture blanks too. Therefore, the backlight inverter board too is must be suspected. Check this link, and pull up older posts there. Causes to flikering are described in detail with illustrations.

Thomson digital tv recorder DT1 6300-16 when switched on an orange light flashies on the digital box,doesn't do anything else.

Tried this earlier, and it worked for me (although I needed to resort to Option 2, and lost all my recordings...the price to pay, it seems!)

You will need bags of patience, unless you are very lucky first or second time...good luck! :)

My thomson wysius plasma tv comes on but the picture fflashes on and off ive connected pc to screen and is ok,so is it something to do with tuner box.?

You can also try to use the audio and video inputs to narrow the failure down to the tuner.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
