If you have a systemguard warranty on your laptop better contact Toshiba Techsupport (1800-457-7777) and they will gladly send your unit for depot repair which is free to replace the whoule keyboard. No charges including Shipment and handling.

If you are out of warranty, you can dismantle the laptop KB and spray a contact cleaner on that might fix the issue.

Hope this helps

I spilled I tea on my Gateway FX keyboard and mousepad. The keys are working now but I'm worried they will get sticky. I cleaned up as much as possible by patting with a towel to soak up the tea. ...

Before you do anything, unless it is already dried, (turn it off first!) turn the laptop upside down and gently tap the back to coax any liquid out. Then do NOT turn it on until it is totally dried. You can clean the keys and pad it with a DAMP (NOT wet) cloth with plain soap and water. Be careful not to get any water down into the keyboard itself so it doesn't short it out. However this will not clean whatever liquid may have gone inside. Hopefully none did else you could end up with a bigger problem...

My brother sat a small cup of milk in front of the netbook and leaned over the netbook and the cup of milk and it spilled on top of the keys

When this happens, you should fully disassemble the netbook & thoroughly inspect its inside. Look for any traces of liquid on the circuit boards & on other components. On circuit boards, liquid damage appears in the form of whitish traces. These needs to be wiped off. This can be done using a tooth brush moistened with few drops of hand sanitizer liquid.
Check all internal connectors & make sure that no liquid seeped into them. Dry them if needed.
When you are done, re-assemble back the netbook.
If the liquid fell on the keyboard & you found out that the keyboard is no longer working, then you will have to replace the keyboard.

How to Fix Spilt Liquid on bda25ce.jpg?
You accidentally knocked fruit drink or a late night glass of milk on your laptop or your child spilled a good portion of milk directly into your keyboard. You hear a popping noise, the screen goes black. Water by itself is not as bad as milk or juice, both of which are corrosive/acidic, or coffee, tea, soda, etc.
First and most important -Calm Down and unplug the computer from its power source.
Disconnect it from the power cord and remove the battery. If needs, please remove the keyboard. The old adage - Water and Electricity don't mix - is quite true. For your laptop spilled water, let your laptop dry. Do not attempt to turn on the computer for at least 72 hours. Let it sit in a cool, dry place. If you disassembled the laptop, reassemble it after 72 hours have passed.

Some of the keys work and a few just dont ....I am not sure if the keys are broken....stuck or if my laptop has been dropped or something. It's just not working right

Did someone (not you, of course) spill something (sugar in coffee, tea, cocoa, soft-drink, beer) onto the keyboard? If so, as the liquid dries, the sugar dries up, and gums-up the works.

Get a qualified technician to replace the keyboard.

Spilled iced tea on brand new Toshiba laptop

I would leave it in the airing cupboard or somewhere warm to dry off completely first and try it again later. Also whilst it is doing that if its under warranty or a newish laptop then see if you can get Toshiba to repair it for you.

Not much else anyone can advise as obviously you have already turned it on after cleaning it up which it may of still been wet inside so not a great idea to turn it on as the liquid could of possibly of gone inside and as a lot of people know water / liquids and electricity is a big no no.

Pop the enter key off (be gentle), then take a Q-tip with alcohol (rubbing not drinking) and clean the connector and the rubber riser. If the problem persists, the you will have to replace the keyboard.
