There can be many things that cause this. Is your port where you plug it in bent or chipped in any way? Is there something stuck in the charging port, could the wall charger be fried, could your charger cord have a short in it, could there be dust up in the charging port, is your battery wet, could your phone be outdated and you need a new phone.
Have you tried a new charger? New battery? Check the charging port where the charger plugs into the handset, there should be a small pin inside, if you cant see this then its probably broken off and you will need to replace the charging connector
