Question about HP Pavilion dv2500t Notebook

Touch Volume On my Hp Pavilion dv2500 laptop my touch volume is messed up, when i try to turn it up my whole computer freezes, my friend has the same computer and it does the same thing. The only way to fix it is to constantly have quickplay open, but then my computer usage is always close to 100%. my internet explorer is always becoming unresponsive because my usage is so high. Does anyone know how i can fix it so i dont have to always have quickplay open? i would think that HP would offer an update to fix it cause its really annoying. thanks for the help

i have the same problem and my computer is 3 days old, configured and streamed lined by the geeks, and running with the newest additions of spyware and antivirus. i have added no programs or transfered any files from my old computer yet. the volume indicator comes up in the middle of the screen and stays there until i close the program running audio with the task manager. if i cannot find a remedy i will be returning the computer for service or refund.

Really? i mean my computer was 3 days old, and i have the newest anti-virus and spyware programs running at an enourmous cost to myself...the patch i got from the hp tech online help was this...

Robert: Here is the link for HP QuickTouch Software.
Robert: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37799.exe
Robert: Please do not click on the link instead, Just copy and paste the entire link onto the address bar of your browser and press .
david hodgkins: should i uninstall the current drivers, or will they be automatically replaced?
Robert: The driver will be replaced.
david hodgkins: thanx!
Robert: Please hold on.
david hodgkins: i've already completed the download
Robert: Here is the link for HP Quick Launch Buttons.
Robert: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38171.exe
Robert: Please do not click on the link instead, Just copy and paste the entire link onto the address bar of your browser and press .
Robert: First download it on to the desktop. Then double click on it to run the file; Once the installation completed, restart the system

this may, or may not work...the tech informed me that the firmware, or the original drivers were corrupt when installed and that this patch should work.

have a nice day,

david

I was having the same problem as this. Just tried this out and it seems to be working so far. to adjust the volume you need to hold down the + or - not just tap them, that would be my only complaint now.

"When you’re using touch sensitive on you HP Pavilion notebooks, you will find your volume bars or even firefox freezes. But follow this simple step for fixing this error messages: Go to Start button -> Type RUN in the search box -> Type MSCONFIG -> OK -> Continue -> Go to Startup Tab in the System Configuration -> You have to uncheck “HP Quicktouch On Screen Display Item” -> Restart Your computer.
this simple method will disable the on screen display of the volume control. You’ll can work but there is no annoying bar."

Light-up volume bars on the hp pc notebook dv7 1132nr

Hi Folks....
If you are talking about the Quick Launch buttons of the Notebooks from where we usually increase, decrease or mute the Volume, the lights will be still and will not increase or decrease with the increase or decrease in Volume.
However, you do have a utility which should be preinstalled in Notebooks called HP Quick Touch which shows the bars on the Display when the volume is Increased or Decreased  using the Quick Launch buttons. This application is not compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit edition.
The HP Quick Touch application is available for download from the link below :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38358.exe

Save the file in the Notebook and double click it once the download is completed to install the application.
Hope this helps....

I have three problems with my hp pavilion dv5 notepook

I have the same laptop but I can't help with the touchpad issue (must be a hardware issue b/c mine works fine....try unstalling the driverm then reinstall the driver). The problem with the volume I can help you with: go to start and type in MSCONFIG and click on the startup tab, then uncheck the onscreen display for quick touch (the name may vary) item.....then reboot....now the volume will still change without showing you the annoying window (takes care of the random volume changes also & if the volume doesnt react, just tap the Stop button a couple times then change your volume)

now, the overheating and shutting down issue: go to HP's support site support.hp.com and type in the exact model number on the bottom of your laptop. now you need to go to the drivers and downloads section. there scroll down til you see BIOS. download and run this b/c it updates the laptop to where the fan inside will run faster and more often to compensate for the laptop running hot. helped mine out a lot.

Another thought (volume): uninstall just quicktouch in Programs and Features from the control panel. it gets rid of the annoying ticking when you adjust the volume....helped me out a bunch.

Problem

I understand that when you try to increase the volume the programs freezes.

To isolate the issue please uninstall HP Quick Touch Software.

Here are the steps to uninstall HP Quick Touch Software.

Click start and select Control Panel

Then select Programs

Then select Programs and Features.

This will show list of programs

There select HP Quick Touch Software and click on uninstall/Remove.

Then restart the Notebook . This should resolve the issue.

Thanks.
