Turned on TV one evening and had lots of green and blue screen with sound. Replaced lamp no change. Should we have a tech check it out in our home? How much is a service call? I can't envision my husband and son restlessing with this beast taking it to a repair depot!

Your ballast might not be able to light up your lamp. Do you hear a clicking, buzzing? this can be an indicator that your ballast is too weak to light up the lamp. this board will need to be replaced at some point of your tv's life.
Hi, Question shows its Sony KDF-50WE655 dlp tv that has lamp inside and it seems its time to replace lamp. Did you replaced lamp in tv recently? If not, replace it. Lamp replacement procedure would be written in user manual and please buy Sony original lamp for better result. Thanks.
Capacitor failure is the most likely scenario the FMT ans Signal PWB would cause the picture interference and the power pwb would cause the lamp light to turn red and give a 34 code when the device/ input and menu buttons are pressed in together and held for five seconds. That chassis has issues with every board in the chassis having failed capacitors you can get repair kits for the V26 chassis at the follwing link that come with instructions. Your model is the V26 chassis. Heres the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
that is a common problem with that model you will need the v26 power pwb repair kit and the V26 FMT pwb repair kit. You can get both kits at the following link which includes the replacement capacitors and instructions on where the capacitors are located. Heres the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Did you have color problems in past? Most of these sets have convergence problems. Amps goes out. But you should have seen some type of distortion from color, red, blue, green. If no color problems then maybe vertical ouput out or horizontal output bad.
I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
