We have an se445 cordless phone/answerphone. with answerphone on, the line rings 4 times then stops briefly before continuing to ring instead of cutting onto answerphone. BT line has been checked and gain increased but no joy. Broadband & SKYbox works fine.
Thanks

I, too, have the same problem with my se445 trio. The phone rings 4 times as I have set it for, then after the the 4th ring, instead of going to the answerphone, it starts another 4 rings, then another, and will continue like this indefinitely. When I first set the phone up, it was working as it should and I did receive a couple of calls which went to answerphone, but after a few days, it got into this loop.

I have unplugged the new phone and plugged the old one back in, but now any telephones that I use, with or without answerphone facilities, just ring and ring. When I pick up, the line is completely dead.

Virgin have checked my line and said it is fine for receiving calls, but I cannot make calls or pick-up calls that come into me. I have an engineer coming to me this Saturday, 23 August, and I hope it is a problem with the telephone line, but would appreciate any information regarding the telephone itself.

Many thanks.

Regarding the Philips SE445 cordless phone/answerphone. I posted my problem where it rings 4 times then continues to ring without cutting into the answerphone. My phone is now fixed and working as it should which is great. I was unable to make calls because I had no dial tone and although Virgin checked my line and said it was fine, it obviously wasn't. The problem was with the line in the Exchange Box - the big green boxes that are located on the roadside - the line was broken there. Once fixed, I had my dial tone and the SE445 is working perfectly. To nomad1066, I would insist that BT check their Exchange Boxes as this is probably where the problem lies. Check whether you have a dial tone. Hope this helps.
