SOURCE: Washing Machine (bosch)
It's caused by blockages the holes in the water divertor (or whatever it's called) in the roof of the soap dispenser. Not enough water flows through during the cycle to cause the siphoning action to happen which then flushes the softener through. I've noticed these holes regularly get blocked with mildew (black staining) since water lays on the plastic providing an ideal environment for mildew . A quick solution is to clear the holes using an old toothbrush or similar. Longer term is to carefully remove the water diverter panel by pulling down at the back and also sliding a thin metal blade (eg old knife) between sides of the panel to unclip it as you pull down. Rather fiddly and danger of splitting the plastic. However if you succeed you can then clean all the mildew away and replace. However it will return unless you manage to keep the soap dispenser dry - perhaps by leaving drawer open. I suspect this is a design problem since it never happened with an old Hotpoint machine I had.
SOURCE: Conditioner is not used in the wash cycle
I had the same problem with my Bosch Classixx 1200 Express.
It was fixed today & I now know what to do in the future if it happens. The water gets into the soap/ conditioner dispenser drawer via 2 pipes. One points to the main detergent compartment and the other to the pre-wash and conditioner compartments. The pipes become clogged with a type of mould. This meant that in my machine the water was bypassing the conditioner. I had already removed the drawer and cleaned it up and cleaned the jets above with an old tootbrush but it hadn't solved the problem. The repair guy used a cable tie (one of those that is quite firm & will lock) and pushed it up inside the bigger jets. This loosened the black gunge. Then ran water thru from start of the basic cycles and all is now OK

you have a blocked filter, unplug from mains, take off back panel you will see a black sump hose coming from the tub to the pump, tilt the machine forward and put a dish or bowl under sump unscrew clamp and pull off slowly to release any water in the drum. You will find a blockage, also what appears to be a ping pong ball dont throw away it is meant to be there.
SOURCE: water leaking through soap dispenser
assume this is a front load remove drawer ck for blockage into tub from inside at inlet and underneath drawer if you use powder detergent old detergent and clump and block line into tub
SOURCE: Dispenser still full of water and fabric softener
My dispenser was always full at the end of the programme. I took the drawer out and pushed a drinking straw down the hole that takes the conditioner into the machine... this was bunged up with gunge... has been fine since.
To get rid of the residue and get your machine sparkling... 1/2 cup of Washing soda crystals on a 60 degree wash. Run machine with no washing and let it run the full cycle..
Add 1 desert spoonful of washing soda to every wash.. sprinkled in the gap in the door seal to keep the machine in tip top condition and smelling great.
You will find your conditioner smells amazing when you get rid of the gunk...
