Unable to hear system through speakers, but ok through headphones

Make certain the connections to your speakers are good. Test each of your speakers with a 1.5 battery. Put the + and - ends of the battery to the + & - of the speaker (not connected to amp). Just for a short time only - the speaker should "pop".
If they are good you might have damaged the headphone socket on the machine. These disconnect the speakers when the headphone jack is inserted. Sometimes the contacts break or become bent out of place thus not reconnecting the speakers. This can be easily fixed and is not an expensive repair. The only exception would be if there is a switch to switch off the speakers on the unit itself. But if in the past you have put a headphone jack in the unit when the speakers were operating and they cut off then a faulty jack socket is to blame.

Cannot seem to get my sub woofer working I have bose speakers, this was working fine until i moved house now unable to get anything working

Mice may have made it a home for a while. In whcih case they make reasonable doorstops.

Otherwise if they are clean and rodent free- it might simply be a matter of oxide on a power connecter, or switch or controls. The fundamental assumption being they are hooked up correctly. Usually pressing the push button switched a few times will clean them enough to function to tell you they need cleaning with contact cleaner, the same with pots, linear or rotary, and toggle switches too. I have seen instances where power connections or earphone/headphone jacks had corroded at the contact point that opens or closes when the jack is plugged in- corroded enough to prevent operation.

I am unable to get the speakers to work at all. They will not play system sounds or anything. Troubleshooter suggested that I uninstall and reinstall the speakers. So I uninstalled and went to reinstall...

I don't know what is the operating system you are using with your computer.Still we can check, first we need to find out if the problem is with the speaker or with the computer.

Try these steps
  • connect those speakers with other computer check the sound, if you are getting sound there it means speakers are ok need to check computer audio setup and hardware.
  • If you are not getting any sound connecting speakers with other computer then it is speakers need to replace.

Incase speakers are ok Disconnect the speakers

  • restart the computer, check if there is windows sound if not
  • right click on the volume control icon on the left hand button corner of the screen, uncheck the mute option.still not getting any sound?
  • try to download the audio driver from the dell support site.still not getting
  • need to check the internal speaker connection,if it is fine
  • go to this website http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and click on Restore sound -windows Audio service and run the tweak,YOU NEED TO USE INTERNET EXPLORER
  • still you cannot hear the sound change the internal speaker.

Audio drivers are installed but i am unable t listen the sound

If you are unable to hear then check that you have attached your speaker in right plug or not.
This is most problem of your computer no any situation to removing software and other feature.

Depending on the source, you typically only hear program material from the three front most of the time. Ensure that you are using surround encoded source material or try changing surround modes.

Windows 7 Audio Quadraphonic Not functioning well

Sounds like you are getting quad sound in the test process that checks them, yet when in windows media player or winamp (or whatever) your rear speakers aren't producing sound: Try setting your sound drivers to do something like "speaker fill" then you are set. I'm under the belief that stereo sounds aren't being matrixed into all 4 speakers.
