I also am a proud owner of an Eskips 5443. It clips sometimes and over train
tracks and stuff, but usally at a high volume. Seeing as how i am using the
HU's amp 13x4 maybe the volume is the problem, . but when i listen at lower
volumes it still sometimes skips over bumps and stuff, when i never had that
problem with my old alpine. Any ideas?

I would say that if your hu is only skipping when you hit bumps it is installed
improperly. Mine will skip or cut out at low volumes (30-50) while driving
along smooth roads or sitting still. I have also noticed that if I am playing
it at high volumes (60 +) all sound except the sub will shut down similar to a
thermal protector being tripped in an amp. I imagine that is exactly what is
happening. For some reason the internal amp is shutting down. I don't know if
this is linked to the skipping problem or not. So, in answer to your question,
I would say that yours is not defective if it does not skip when you are on
smooth roads or parked. I have never (yet) had mine skip when hitting bumps so
I believe it is mounted properly.
The best advice I have is to take it back to the company that installed it and
let them deal with the problem. If you installed it yourself I would make sure
that you have it mounted properly. I have seen a few other posts about it
needing to be mounted a specific way.
Good luck!
